Default build a heat shield

Has anyone built a heat shielf for their CAI, or know what material would be good for me to build one with?

The CAI winds down to the right and puts the filter behind the fog light next to the radiator, im affraid it may not get cold enough air and want to build a heat shield between the radiator and filter.

I bought a CAI on ebay from ChromeIntakes with a K&N filter, instructions were bad and i only got it to fit by putting it in backwards from what the directions said....Still I really like it, sounds amazing, definately more horse power, no change in MPG.

Thanks

I think the one in my truck (FRAM BOOST CAI) is made from 16 GA mild steel, as most others also.

I'd just purchase heat shield wrap. This is a fiberclass cloth with aluminum coating on one side to reflect the radiant heat. Jegs and others have Thermo-Tec heat shield wrap that you can cut to fit. I'd press in gromets along the seam and lace with string. You can wrap the entire length of the tube. Here are a couple of links that show the sample products.

In regards to the heat wrap....

If you only wrap the tube, then it still sucks in hot air...doesnt it?

If you wrap the filter, then it would block off any air trying to get in?

Wouldnt a heat sheild between the filter and radiator work better??

I think the origninal poster was looking to put a shield between the radiator & the air filter... I dont know about the gasser setups but my question would b e is the filter on the passenger side of the radiator? heat would be minimal there. also have you removed the splash guard from the side of the radiator? the airflow alone should keep it cool enough for it not to be a problem.

I want to know if you have any problems with driving in the rain with that setup. That is what I have been wanting to do but am afraid I will suck in water when I drive in the rain.
