The box is what gives your subs the base. Im still doubting that you can fit them under the seat though even with a "shelf" Most Subs also require a certain displacement for the air to move to make it sound great. To big of a box and it wont sound right and to small of a box and the box could either break or the speakers will sound like sh*t. You cant just throw the speakers in a box and call them good with a sub. Theres alot more that goes into it

Thanks a lot man for the input. I've decided to give up on that idea, and just settle with putting them behind the seat.
