Default New System!

I just ordered everything I need for a new system in my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Regular Cab:

2 Kicker 05CVR122 CompVR 12" 2-Ohm Subwoofers
--------------------------------------------------

1 Kicker 05KS525 5-1/4" 2-Way Speakers (Pair)
--------------------------------------------------

1 Kicker 05KS693 6 x 9" 3-Way Speakers (Pair)
--------------------------------------------------

1 Kicker 06ZX350.4 90W x 4-Channel Amplifier
--------------------------------------------------

1 Kicker 06ZX750.1 750 Watts Mono-Sub Amplifier

Circuit City quoted me $1900.

I am gonna mount the subs in a custom sub box that sits behind the seats, where the black storage tray is. I'm gonna mount the amps above the sub box on that back wall. If necessary I will put some kick panels in w/some Kicker 6 ½'s from Crutchfield. I'm not gonna install this stuff myself though because I don't know what I'm doing. And also my dad doesn't trust me (I'm only 16). lol. I'll take pics and let you know how the install goes with Circuit City.

The system sounds awsome. I had some Kicker CompVR in my trunk of my intrepid. They where 2 12" and I had a Kenwood 1000 MONO amp wired down do a 2Ohm load and they hit hard. Having them in your truck right behind you they will hit even harder. Looking foward to some pics, keep us informed.

Well I don't know where to go to learn. I got all mine done my trial and error, mostly error. Once you do one speaker install you figure out alot. Its not all that hard for most cars, the ram is not to bad. There are just some screws holding the door pannel in, on mine I had to take off the window lever b/c I dont have power windows. Just make sure that on any car that has power windows and locks not to just pull the pannel off you could rip the wires out. Are you going to get a new head unit or just use the Factory Radio?

You should not have to spend that much money to get a very good quality system. Installing this stuff isn't difficult but it's a little time consuming and you should have all the right tools.

Remember when it comes to total wattage going from 100 to 200 watts may double your wattage but it doesn't double your volume. Volume is increased by wattage on about a 7-1 ratio, meaning to double the volume from 100 watts you need to increase to about 700 watts and of course this means nothing unless your distortion is under .05%

$1900 sounds insane to me.

No not really that price sounds about right for what he's doing you can go cheaper yes but the cheaper rought when it comes down to a system isn't really the best rought to go. The higher quality components usually last longer and sound alot nicer than the cheaper models do specialy here in Az where your system basically bakes inside the cab of your truck all day. Personally I have roughly 2 grand+ invested in my system. And that is just my 2 infinity 12" subs and 2 infinity 6x9s, a custom sub box from audio express, and 1500w Rockford Fosgate Amp not to mention all the wiring and install fees for some of the items. Electronics can add up just as fast as perfomance parts can.

I have a Pioneer Deck in the truck already. Truckin151 is absolutely right, here in Az all the system does is bake inside the truck. Plus, I am a big fan of the Kicker systems. I'll keep you all updated with how the process goes and I'll post pics as soon as it's done. I am still trying to put one 10" under each seat, as you might have seen in my other thread. Do subs have to be in a box or can it be like a "shelf"?

Yeah, guess it's been a long time since I messed with upgrading car stereo's, I stopped dumping money into audio systems a very long time ago. After having three systems stolen(or attempted) even with a car alarm installed I just gave up.....Had a Nissan pickup with a decent system, it got flooded and ruined everything, insurance covered it but after that I just never have bothered with anything above a stock CD or decent but not expensive aftermarket.
