I have some 265/60/R18 on my ram and on the tire is says 44 PSI max, but what should they be set at normally? I have them set at about 37-38psi now, is this fine?

Should be ok. There should be a sticker in your door jam with maximum and recommended pressures listed.

yah, 37-38 would be fine. at the dealership we run em up to 40 in the 1500's and 55 or 60 in the 2500/3500. personally, i usually run right around 36

I'm running higher PSI to squeeze out a little more MPG. I'm at 40psi now with a max of 55psi per the tire sidewall.

I'd also be more apt to keep the psi higher with a smaller sidewall as the lower the psi the closer the wheel is to the road and impact damage should you hit a HUGE pothole. I'd rather mess up a tire than a wheel AND tire.

It's a tradeoff between comfort, handling, mileage, tire ware, and safety.
There is no universal "correct" pressure. It varies from type of vehicle, and how its being used.
For example, if you're hauling a max GVWR load, or running at extended high speed, then you must run max pressures. You don't want to compromise safety...
