I'm running higher PSI to squeeze out a little more MPG. I'm at 40psi now with a max of 55psi per the tire sidewall.
I'd also be more apt to keep the psi higher with a smaller sidewall as the lower the psi the closer the wheel is to the road and impact damage should you hit a HUGE pothole. I'd rather mess up a tire than a wheel AND tire.

It's a tradeoff between comfort, handling, mileage, tire ware, and safety.
There is no universal "correct" pressure. It varies from type of vehicle, and how its being used.
For example, if you're hauling a max GVWR load, or running at extended high speed, then you must run max pressures. You don't want to compromise safety...
