eBay Cold Air Intake?
Hey DirtyDodge02! What happened to your pictures? My kit will be here Friday, and I am very curious to see what your setup looks like. Did you ever figure out what the MAF sensor was? Also, how well did the install go? Anything you can give me a heads-up on?
Hey, thanks for putting them back up. My kit has been delivered, so I"m anxious to see how it works. I don't expect a huge difference, but I'm hoping for a little better throttle response and better power when lugging in 2nd or drive without having to kick it down. We'll see what happens soon!
Well, I installed the kit in about 30 minutes. The most difficult part of it was getting the air filter pushed up from the bottom because it wouldn't fit down from the top. I wish the pipe was 1/2" bigger, but I don't know how much difference that would make. As far as performance...I didn't really notice a real increase in horsepower. It does seem like the mpg's have increased a little. There may be a little better throttle response, especially at lower rpms. I'm not in love with the noise that it makes when at 3/4 throttle or more. With the K&N kit on my old 5.9L, it howled like an old Quadrajet carb. This engine sounds like it's gobbling up the air and chewing on it as it gulps it down.
I'm guessing that most CAI kits for the Hemi would have similar results. I think the motor has too many of the right things happening already for the CAI to have a dramatic effect like it did on the 360. The filter box is huge, the IAT is already in the colder air instead of the intake manifold, and the flow into the throttle body was already fairly smooth. I don't think the stock hemi is gasping for air like the old 5.9L.
I won't go as far to say that I wasted the $50 plus shipping, but I'm overjoyed that I didn't spend $300+ for something that I don't think would make any more difference.

If you guys want a cold air kit that no one can dispute about cold air, then talk to "AIRRAM"

Actually, I'm suprised he hasn't chimed in on this topic.
