I switched from a GMC to a Dodge. I can't complain about GMCs, though. I had almost 200k miles on her and she was still running strong. I just hope I can get that many on my Dodge.

I have the ford 5.4 in 2 trucks 1999-2002 they had there share of normal Ford Problems as in Blowing out plugs and using oil, 1 truck with a Power Stroke 1997 loved it got rid of it with 130000 miles, 1 truck 1994 with a 460 in it it would past every thing but a gas station got rid of this one of MPG or Gallon per Mile it had 80000 miles on it.

I just gotten tired of worring when my last2002 Ford truck with 5.4 was going to blow anouther plug and leaving me walking but the truck had 93000 miles on it.

I had a old power wagon 1982 with good old 318 with 727 trany It never let my down and I use to beat on it,it had at least 250000 when i gotten rid of it, 2001 PT cruiser good car but to small, my wife has a 1998 T/C mini van with 180000 miles on it runs great, and a 2001 2500 V10 with 60000 miles on it runs great she happy with them.

I made the switch after totaling my 2000 F-150. (212K miles, no service/mechanical issues) I find my "new" used truck (2004 Ram 1500 SLT, 4X4, QC, Hemi) to be more comfortable... with that huge console/arm rest, the adjustable seats and the radio controls on the steering wheel. Glad I made the switch. Just rec'd my extended warranty (100k mile warranty or June 2009, whichever comes first)papers this past Friday. I drove F-150's for the past 9 years and if I remain as happy with my Ram as I am now, I will never go back.

Fords? I owned a lot of them, never ever had a issue, Than in 02 and 04 I had a basterd of a time with the F-150s, Ford has gone down hill very quickly in my books, I will never ever buy a Ford, Ever, I still log into F-150online.com now and than, I'm a big happy Dodge troll now, and I love it.

I'm sure something at some point in time will go wrong with My Ram, It happens to all the brands and I'm happy for the expierance, I baby this truck like a virgin and laugh at the F-150 now, I cry over the money I have wasted on them and I did have a awsome 97 F-150 I still miss, But since 02, Its been a turd show with the F-150.

I used to think the only thing good abought the Ram is the Hemi, it is a awsome engine and after being Forderized over the years, thier are still little teathing pains I'm going threw in the conversion process, But I'm a Dodge guy now and I still whish any owner of any brand the best of luck, It hurts when you pay for good money for bad ownership expirances..

Ford will not be the top sales leader with F S Trucks in 06, Ford is cooked..

Plugs? Freeze or spark? I did not know this was a normal problem with Fords!

I think Ford, GM and Dodge all make fairly comparable trucks. Each has their good points and each has their negatives. I'll admit that I looked at Dodge because they were running screaming deals here, I had driven my buddies Dakota and was quite impressed.

LOL..... I switched from a 76' GMC which was a hand me down from when me father bought it bran new back in 76' It was on its second engine and second tranny but other thatn that it was all original parts and it ran strong up until last year when I got tired of driving with my windows rolled down and head sticking out in the winter cause there wasn't a heater or defroster in the thing. All though in thhe middle of the day during the summer when it was 112 outside you could turn on the air and see your breath inside the cab which was a plus. I was sad to see the thing go but I got my project truck almost done now so it wont be long before I'm back in an old Chevy. But yeah my GMC lasted over 400,000 miles easily, We lost track of how many times the OD rolled over and started new again after the 2nd or 3rd time around.

He is referring to the spark plugs. The Triton 5.4L head casting have a short run of threads for the spark plugs and are known to blow them out.

As a side note, the only reason I have a Dodge was because I liked the styling, power, and price over the 04 F-150. Plus I didn't want a first year production vehicle. I'm sure I would have been happy either way, but now I really like my Dodge and will brobably replace it with a Durango in a few years because I'm going to need the room for my family.

Had a '76 F-250. Dumped the 360 and put in a 300 6 cylinder. Still see that truck around now and then. Went thru a Van period. Came back to trucks in '96 with a GMC Z-71. 100,000+ miles and not one problem. Same brakes, changed one spark plug wire and a fuel filter. '98 got a Ford F-250 with powerstroke diesel. Still have it, 136,000 miles some problems but will keep it 'til the end. Mom's truck. Bought an F150 with the 5.4 in 2003 with 15,000 mile traded it in on '05 QC 1500 Hemi. No trouble with the F150 but was always afraid of blowing a plug. 1500 QC had 6,770 miles when I bought it on June 6, 2006. Now has 10,500. So far a great truck.
