Default new Daytona owner, hello!

Hi.

Just bought my new Dodge Ram 1500 Daytona (#8313) yesterday and I'm really enjoying it, but I have a concern.

I had to drive it about 300 miles home yesterday and now it's all bug-ridden and stuff. I don't have time to hand-wash it this morning, but will it kill the graphics if I run it through one of those automated car washes? Not the way I would normally treat the truck of course, but just this once.. I am concerned that the wax and process will screw up the graphics on the truck.

Am I being a little too overly protective of the new baby?

Regards,

Wayne

I would just bring it to the local car wash and pressure wash it. I would not run it through the auto wash. I dont like them. Im sure the auto wash wouldn't hurt it , but I would rather have control of the washing.

Where's the pics at????????????????????????????????????????????

U're not being overprotective..........I've had my '06 since January and have NEVER been thru a car wash with brushes...only the automated lazer wash ones.... and Iwash my truck at least twice a week and wax her at least once every other week. My wife is so jealous of her. LOL. I believe Turtle Wax makes a bug and tar remover. Goes on like a wax...bugs off. Works good. If you're even still worried, wait until u have the time to do it the way you want to do it. Good luck with the Daytona.

Id never run mine through an autmated wash just because I like giving my truck the attention she deserves and I have to get it spotless and the car washes dont do much of anything for that, and because of all the horor stories Ive heard from guys with rams who have taken them through the automated washes only to have the anttena torn out of the fender causing alot of damage to the truck. It may have only happened 3 or 4 times out of a few thousand but who wants to take that risk! Anyway I wouldn't think it would hurt the graphics but at the same time I highly doubt you are suppose to wax those flat black areas though. They are not ment to shine. Just wait til you get time but dont wait to long or grab a wet towel on a break or something and give her a quick 5-10min. wipe down.

Thanks very much guys. I figured as much. I just needed something very quick to make her shine, with less than a half-hour before showing her off. Normally car washes are out of the question, but in this case, it was either car wash, or say to all my friends "how do you like my disgustingly dirty truck?"

I LOVE the orange (some people do, some don't), but one thing it does better than any color I've ever seen except black is show dirt and bugs.

I love the copper color as well but I couldnt find one that color for my ram when I bought it. I saw on going down the road the other day that looked like it was a mix between the copper and red that looked sick. If I only could of found one that color......oh well at least silver is less noticeable when your flying down the road and it doesnt show much of anything for dirt or bugs when it gets dirty........

I have no idea what I'm doing with this particular forum software, but here's my new baby, the day I bought it.
