Default Wheel/tire question for '04 Ram 4x4

I'm brand new here and have a question that's probably been asked a hundred times before. I have an '04 quadcab 1500 Ram 4x4 with stock 17 inch wheels. I want to fill those huge wheel wells with some bigger tires but can't fit much on the wheels. What do you recommend for a wheel size and tire size that will beef up my truck a little without a lift. I'm not a fan of the 20 inch rims either. I'd rather have smaller wheels and larger tires. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

What size tire came on the truck from the factory? It makes a difference with the rear end ratios.

The tires came standard with the truck. P245/70R17 All-Season tires. 17" x 8.0" Aluminum Wheels.
