Just took mine in for a "free checkup" and found out that it is the adaptive transmission... apparently it recognizes light throttle and shifts into a higher gear at a low RPM when you're just cruising slow, which make the "noise" I've noticed. It goes away when you hit tow/haul because that changes the shift patterns and also goes away when you hit the gas hard...

Yeah, I kinda miss the good old days when everything was mechanical and you didn't have a computer on your truck.

I have the same thing here, I think it may be the MDS, i put it in tow/haul mode and it pretty much goes away
I have a 2500 w/o the MDS and in standard 5 speed mode, it comes off the line ok but in tow/haul mode it grabs sooner. With the overdrive completely off (just the 3 gears) it performs like the old torqueflites behind the 340's and 440's. Of course gas mileage suffers a little but.........

Ok. I used to work at Folsom Lake Dodge. I have sold over 100 Hemi powered vehicles. That doesn’t mean I know the mechanics, however, it does mean that I have driven them, a lot. I also own a 2007 QC SB Hemi with MDS. It’s basically like this; use it or it will use you. The newer rams equipped with MDS (2006 & up) have a program that has a FSL or fuel system limiter. Obviously you have all noticed this and are complaining about it. Nothing is wrong with your truck. It’s just the rest of our country saying “why doesn’t my truck get 30MPG” and this is dodge’s reply, MDS. Just push the pedal faster. Your truck can sense how fast you push it (Mercedes Benz technology). They also have a program that keeps shifts at a minimum. Say you are going 40MPH, (assuming you DO NOT have a programmer or superchip), and you hit the gas. It can and will bog down hard in 3rd or possibly 2nd gear if you hit it harder (even though 1st goes through 46mph). Say you floor it at 34MPH (pedal all the way) then it will shift to 1st and you will fly. This is where my point comes in: A V8 that is now running 4 cylinders then has to switch back to 8 and run right into the worst part of the power band (2200rpms to about 3500rpms), is not going to be efficient. Speed and power wise that is… I hope this helped.
