Default Warranty

Hi all...

I just bought a 2004 1500 Ram with a 5.7 Hemi from a dealership. It was owned by one other person and it only had 32700 miles...

The F&I guy told me that the 7/70 powertrain factory warranty was not transferable. Has anyone ever heard of this?? I've bought many cars and this was the first time I've ever of this. Any other time I've bought a pre-owned vehicle, the remainder of the warranty was transferable for free.

Did I get taken?? I had no way to refute this guy at the time, but the more I think of it, the more uneasy I am about what he was telling me.

Take a look at your owners manual/packet, it might say something about a warranty, check if it says anything about it tranfering... Or call up corporate, they will tell you for sure.

But it sounds like your getting "taken" by the dealer

The 7/70 is transferable for a $150 fee, on MOST vehicles.
Some it is transferrable ONLY to the second owner.
Some it is NON transferrable - only to a direct relative.
It's pretty confusing, and I can't tell you which ones (years) have which 7/70 program.

PM me the last 8 of the VIN I can tell you whats up.

Darknight30Plus,

The F&I guy is full of crap. I bought a used '03 Ram last month with 35,500 miles on it and I transferred the 7/70 Powertrain warranty no problem. I believe dodgedlr is correct when he says the warranty is transferrable only once, to the second owner (me).

The previous owner of my truck also had an extended warranty, so I transferred that at the same time for $50. I was able to transfer both warranties by visiting the local Dodge dealership and speaking with their Finance department.

Hope this helps.
