Newbie Here
Hey Guys,
I am new to trucks, I just purchased a new to me 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab. I got a super deal on really cant believe it still, but anyways. It is the Charcoal Gray color and has the 5.9L motor. It does not have any options really, but that is fine with me I love it anyways. I need a cd player (factory) so if anyone has one for sale let me know. Now on to a few questions you guys might find stupid- but again this is my first truck period. How large a tire can I go with out a lift? And what exhaust do you guys recommend, power would be nice but I am on somewhat of a budget with truck payment! Looking around $300-$350 and want a deep tone to it. Thanks for any input you guys might have, and letting me join the forum as I have no real knowledge of these trucks other than I have always wanted one.

Not 100% on this, but I hear that if you level the front end out with a leveling kit, you can tuck a 33x12.50R17 without rubbing anywhere. Can anyone confirm this rumor? I want to know too as I have the same truck with a 4.7 in Red.
I have also heard that. I don't know if it is true but when I put my leveling kit on I am going to get some 33X12.5's and if there is some rubbing then I guess I am just going to have to go higher! Rowes Ram 1500 do you have 2wd or 4wd? I would recommend a flomaster 40 if you want loud. I got mine done with a new pipe and a crome tip for $250
kvsmith, when you do that, post some pics of it and let me know how they do. I'd like to go with some 33's too, but a little weary and a little broke to try it myself right now.
yes you can run a 33" tire on a 02 with a 2" leveling kit in the front with proper back spacing wheels. Also the 2" leveling kit is almost too easy to install. I work at a 4wd center and wheel have done alot but can't say we've done it all thought the shop has been in business since I was in my mommies tummy and I am 19 now so go figure
You can actually fit 35" tires with a 2" front leveling and no rubbing. I have an '02 1500 with front leveling sitting on stock 20" rims and 35" tires.

sorry for delay- mine is a 4wd I seen a 2" leveling kit in summit for aroun $90 has anyone used the summit brand before? They also offer a 3"body lift for aroun $100 so I could level and lift 3" for around $200 almost sounds too good to be true?? but again I am new
I was thinking flowmaster just wanted to know how they sound i had some on an eclipse I had when i was 17 and man it was too much for a 4 cylinder, but I figure it will sound great with my V-8

and another thing I discovered over a case of bud light on saturday- I have the factory fog lights but no switch inside and they would not come on when headlights were turned on, I crawled underneath and saw that the wires had been cut. Would it be safe to wire those back together or could it possibly have been done for a reason? thanks
I'm not sure about the 02's, but if they are the same as the 3rd gens, pull on the headlight switch and they should come on. Also there is a small lamp near the switch that will illuminate
