Default 05 trade in value?

I live in waynesville nc, just west of asheville and was considering trading my truck for a quad cab.
My truck is an 05 st 4wd with the hemi and automatic, with towing package, factory bed liner, cd.
Any way, the dealer said that the trade in value was $11,000![:-]
the truck stickered at over 29,000 a year ago and it only has 11,200 miles
kbb says 17k is trade in, i just wondered what you other guys have encountered?

Yep. Welcome to the club. Dodge trucks have NO trade-in value. My Avalanche after 2 years and 50k miles held way better value. It's because Dodge slashes the prices on their trucks. As has been told to me with a 2005 after about 6 months and less than 10k miles, "why should we give you 17k-18k for your used truck when I can sell a new one for 19k"?
Your best bet is to sell outright or try Ebay or try to find huge cash back rebate to eat up the negative equity. Another thing hurting you is the reg cab. They have worse trade-in. KBB is never right on their prices.

you can thank the "employee pricing" for the lack of TIV.

But it's AMAZING how valuable these trucks suddenly are when they are on the same lot for sale as used trucks.

Personally, it doesn't bother me because I picked up an 05 in Dec....since the 05s were ther last ones to offer the 7/70 plan by default ... between that and the bumper to bump extended to 7/70 and the tire/wheel package....

I plan on keeping mine for quite some time!
(unless they gas goes over 4.00/ga for 87 octane.)

I just traded my 02 QC SLT 4x4 with 153000 KM on it (thats about 100000 miles), truck stickered for $39000 Canadian $ and when I took it back for a trade I was first told that they would give me about $9000 for it. Truck was in great shape just some high miles, so I shopped around, drove out of town to a friend who works at a dealership, he finally gave me almost $15000. He then sold it two days later for $17900, he said he had two offers on it in two days so there is a demand. Try selling private first then take it to a dealer.

I hate the trade in game. Figure you'll be lucky to get half of what you originally paid pending condition and miles. I traded in a Nissan pickup about 6 years ago on a car, they were really dicking with me the sales person was like "LOOK MIKE YOU NEED TO BE REASONABLE HERE YOUR TRUCK ISNT WORK $4k" so I just grabbed my keys and left, by the time I got home there was a message on my machine that they would give me my price.

What your pickup is worth...

I could go on about what stump_breaker said.
But to give you simple info and not get into a big debate about pricing strategies...

You should be able to upgrade 1 year, and same equipment for about $.25/mile.
Somewhat of a rule of thumb.
So with 11,200 miles it will probably cost about $2,800 to trade for an identical pickup.

Here is a URl of a good place to find out what your truck is worth: http://www.edmunds.com/tmv/used/dodge/index.html.

I got $28,500 trade in for my 05 Quad cab SLT 4x4, 4.7L with nerf bars and spray in bed linner, fender flares with 11,800 miles back in April of this year on a new 06 2500 CTD so to me $11,000 is a bit LOW, but $17,500 less that is a bit to much for only 4 months.
