Default Next Generation Ram - 2009?

When do you think we will see the next generation Ram? I have a hunch one of the auto shows in 2007 will give us a glimpse. I'm wondering if the new Ram will have the Nitro-style grille?

With every manufacturer cutting SUV and truck production roughly 33%, I don't think we can expect to see ANY generational changes until and unless oil falls below $60/barrel..

Even with the adjustments being made to truck production levels, and bear in mind that cuts are being made by pretty much all pickup manufacturers, the Ram is too important of a vehicle for Dodge to ignore. By a very wide margin, it is still the top seller for the company even after the production cuts.

I do not think the update schedule will be altered for the Ram. For the 2008 or 2009 Durango (I forget which), the Hemi will be updated with a brand-new hybrid system that is fully integrated into the transmission. The early word coming from DCX is that fuel economy is increased another 25% with no change in driving habits. This new transmission / hybrid system will undoubtedly be implemented on the next-generation Ram.

I have also heard rumors about a smaller Diesel (4.4L 6-cylinder?) being developed for the light-duty Dodge pickups. With fuel prices a concern for everyone, this is smart powertrain development. I hope this is true.

So I don't see any slacking by DCX on the Ram. They just need to adjust for the changing market and address customer wants on their forthcoming models.

there is some buzz in the pipe line of a diesel being found in the 1500's. there have been two different engines tested, a 4.6L V6 and a 5.6L V8, both turbo charged and the v8 puts out somewhere around 300hp and 575lb-ft, both engines made by cummins.

Ironic that just today, there was a big writeup in our local paper about the new hybrid engine linked to a new transmission. It said it would improve fuel economy 25%. It is a joint venture between DMX and GM and I think BMW. Looks like the 2008 Chevy Silverado will see it, so I'm looking for it to show up in the Ram soon.

styling wise, i dont think dodge needs to change anything about the ram. maybe a storage bin in the back bed, kinda like what the fridgeline has. also a locking tailgate would be nice. the one thing i really want in the next gen ram is the 6.1 HEMI. with or with out the MDS makes no diff to me, i dont drive very much so gas MPG doesnt matter.
oh yeah, a less plastic lookin interior would be nice to.
