Default Ticking noise

I experience a ticking noise when i start my Hemi, I have heard the Hemi's make that noise from the lifters. I know my cars and engines, Im not dumb when it comes to engines and it usually isnt good when lifters tick really loud. I dont know a whole lot about Hemi's

my truck also ticks like that, but i did not recognize it until after my first oil change. I have talked to other hemi owners and they have the same problem. I sold a 02 silverado when i bought my ram and it ticked from the day i bought it till the day i sold it and i got 85k of good, well decent service out of the truck.

I have never had a V8 Ram (4 trucks) that did'nt tick. Check your oil to see it is'nt abit low. If your oil is up, then you are fine.

I have a 05 hemi ram with the same ticking noise that sounds like a valve train noise. My buddy is a chrysler mech and he tells me its a emissions pump on the left side inner fender that makes the noise. do not be concerned.Drive it like you stole it.

I have an 03hemi ram and i have the same problem i thought it was and exhaust leak on the passenger side, but i took it in to the muffler shop and they said it was in the engine and that i needed to take it to the dealership. but i hear things about this "hemi tick" and if thats true thats really annoying because ive evnen got flowmasters and up next to a car i can hear it over my flows and thats annoyng. but im gonna take it in and get it looked at. let me know if you find a problem with it.

i recently bought an 07 mega-cab with a Hemi. I figured after reading the owners manual and seeing it recommends 89 octane i figured that the dealership must have filled it up with 87 octane. So after the truck drank the first tank full i filled it with 89 Sunoco, and i had the same "ticking" sound after pulling out around 2000rpm's. So needless to say i was pissed off and already worried that there was something wrong. I called the dealer and spoke with the service manager and he stated that Hemi's do have a louder injector sound than your 4.7, 5.2, and 5.9l engines. Well me being how i am i already thought he was blowing smoke up my A@@. He did ask what fuel i was running and i stated 89 octane, he suggested to try a different brand. OK, after my second tank full i pumped in a few gallons of Exxon 89... Same thing[:@]so now I'm livid and called back to make an appointment. Well in the meantime those few gallons got slurped down and now i pull into a BP station with the low fuel light on. Again 89 octane and i even went for a 20+ mile ride and believe it or not i can barely hear it now.

Noop ........not it.
I'm reliably informed by members on another forum, that the "Hemi Tick" as it's called, are oversized exhaust valve clearences.
Dodge have a recall apparently and replace the heads with smaller clearences on the exhausts.
The guy's who have had this wotk done say, no more problem.
Al.

Use Mobil synthetic 5/30 oil, the noise will go away.
