Anyone on here ever try one of those electric superchargers on ebay? I have the chromeintakes on an '04 hemi, and I think it is great for the price. I was wondering if an electric supercharger would actually do anything. They claim 15 to 45 horsepower and run from $69.99 to $350. If I can spend $69.99 and add 15 or 20, or spend $350 for an expensive one and add 30 or 40, it would be worth it. Especially since they are a simple install. Anyone ever tried one? Or tried 2 (piggyback them)?

 

It's nothing more than a crappy little fan that obstructs the airflow in the intake. It can't even come close to the needed amont of airflow much less pressurize the intake of an engine. Just look at the physical size of any real supercharger versus the wonder doo-dad and that alone should tell it all...

 

in a 1.4L 4 banger u might see a horsepower increase but not a lot, because the amount of air a V8 sucks in is around 500-600cfm and if the fan only matches that there is no gain in power, the fan has to exceed and pump in higher volumes of air and trying to feed a V8 w/ a electric fan is like pretty much impossible

 

it's a scam. . .you would be better off attempting to fit a house fan into the exhaust manifold to help suck the air out of the cylinders.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like it would work a little on my wife's '05 Stratus RT, but not on my hemi. Another question, perhaps I should start a new thread, but here goes........I pull a 6500 pound camper from Pennsylvania to Florida and back once a year, and go on 6 to 8 hour 1 way trips several times a year. I have a '04 hemi quad cab 4X4, 3.92's, 20" wheels, flashpaq, and a few other little things. What can I do to improve the fuel mileage while towing? I get 9 mpg at 60 to 62 mph, any faster than that it drops to about 6.5 to 7 mpg. Tow/haul makes it worse, so I only use it to help hold back going downhill. The towing setting in the flashpaq doesn't seem to do much of anything. 87 octane setting helps a little, while using 89 octane gas. (once I'm done towing, I take it back to the performance setting) Any suggestions to help? (besides buying a cummins)

 

Your biggest help would be a wing for your truck or a nose on you trailer or a combination of the two. The towing I have done with mine shows that these trucks hit a wall at about 62mph which really hurts the fuel millage. I have a trailer I use to pull my race car with and it has a storage box that sticks pretty high in the air creating a parachute effect. I pulled the trailer empty about 250miles to pick up a car. I got better fuel millage on the return trip with a 3000 car on the back that helped to improve my aerodynamics. The trip was from Little Rock AR to Tulsa, OK which is fairly flat so its not like I was going up hill on the way there and down hill back, there was also no wind to speak of.

 

Those things do about as much good as putting 1000 stickers on your car. Who ever sells those really should get in trouble because calling it a supercharger has to be a fraud of some sort and you know some idiot somewhere bought one and thought it would do something.

 

You would do just as good with a blow dryer. Think about it, a true turbo turns at 150,000 rpm......

you would have to spend several thousand bucks to get the horsepower they are claiming. keep your money like everyone else has said.
