Please Help: 2006 Vibration
In florida, they have 3 repair attempts before you can consider lemon law. Considering the third time, the dealer told me its consistant with the other truck, I had no problem sending chrysler the Defective Auto Notice, the took their time getting back with me, and scheduled a final repair attempt about 3 weeks off. By law we have to give them a "final repair" attempt, even though this final repair is at the same dealer that told me this problem is consistant with the others. I dont have much confidence, but after the final repair attempt Chrysler has 10 days to fix it, or buy it back. I doubt they will do either, but at that point I will call a lawyer as well. It sounds to me as Dodge is selling consistantly crappy trucks.
I love the truck. I just want them to fix this stupid vibration and not give us this consistant with other crappy trucks. If all of their 06 qc with hemis have this problem, they would be out of business.
LLT, let me know what ends up happening with yours.

ive had same problem with my 06 since new. ihad an04 and it didnt have it . the other day i was under the truck and grabbed the tranny and shook it. it shook pretty good. so i climbed under my dads 04 and i couldnt shake it. my theory is its the tranny mounts. im gonna take it to the dealer and tell them to check it out.another thing is it seems to be worse while under a load .inoticed driving against the wind on a windy day it seemed a lot worse.check out the tranny and tell me what you guys think.
sjones - I do hope it works out for you. You're right, they are nice trucks on the surface and earlier models were nice on the whole. The quality and workmanship of these things are just awful though.
I got all the paperwork (warranty booklet, repair orders, finance paperwork, etc.) to the attorney. He mentioned they will have one more repair attempt... thankfully the dealer I've had it to put in the paperwork something to the effect of "vibration remains... bad hopping found on all 4 tires when balancing. 4 tires will solve problem" -- so Chrysler can't do much by way of denying there's a problem. The downside to all of this is, the attorney stated it can be resolved best case scenario 3-4 months; worst case scenario 2-3 years. Let's hope it doesn't take that long.

For the giggle factor, I had Good Year swap out all 4 tires. As expected, it made no difference. I also, in the spirit of good faith, called the dealer... they said they're officially throwing their hands up and suggested I follow through on the lemon law - which I'm now in the process of doing.
Damn Dodge.

Damn Dodge.
Well LLT I might be following your path soon. I havent posted much about mine because nothing has changed I now have had 4 new tires and same problem I had my tires road force ballanced and still have 1 which is brand new that is out of spec. I called Goodyear today and they said they do not consider road force varaiation a problem so they cant replace tires for that. Then they offered to upgrade me from GSA to Silent armors for cost of mount and ballance. The dealer I am working with now is a Chevy&Dodge dealer so he dont buy the fact that goodyear told me that since they have replaced plenty on the chevys for the road force varaiton and he also dont buy the statements from the DCX rep that it is normal. He told me that some new chevys are having a similar problem but GM is doing something about it. I really like the truck but there is a point where it just has to be fixed or go. when the rain drys up i will go try to see if my tranny vibrates if i have to compare it to another year truck I will go to a dealer and shake on a used one. Anything to point the dealers in the right direction. I think there will end up being a TSB for this issue but they are sure taking thier time doing it.
I leased a 2006 Dodge Ram in June and found the vibration after about 80 miles. I have been back to the dealership and they have balanced and rotated the tires, removed the driveshaft and installed a hose clamp and wheel weights, installed a new driveshaft and pretty much replaced the whole rear end. I took the vehicle home with the hose clamp still in place and was informed by the dealership to not remove the clamp because they would not replace it again and this was all the could do because a technical advisor from Chrysler had told them to do this. After pulling a trailer guess what? It is back worse than ever. Unfortuanately I leased this poor excuse of a Dodge and would pay out of the nose to get out of lease, but I do not know what to do now. I filled out the survey for the dealership (unfortunatly I am employed at) honestly and got into a bit of trouble for that because of the FFV. And I have contacted Chrysler and have a reference number but still it has to be sent to the dealership for repairs, AND I have talked to my owner and still nothing. It is coming up on ice fishing and I know that this will drive us absolutely crazy pulling a fishhouse.
Has anyone had any luck on this vibration????????
Please help.

Although I can't be sure, I'm seeing the vibration is on a lot of 4x4's. Has anyone had the dealership check the pinion angle? Vibrations are common on Jeeps which have been lifted anywhere from a little to a lot and can easily be cured by a transfer case drop or motor mount lift. Something must have changed between 05's and 06's. I don't have even a hint of vibration on my 05 except for in the driveshaft, but then I know what is causing that.
Just a suggestion.
Just a suggestion.
I also posted a problem with vibration issues:

Update: After 2 Dodge dealerships balanced my wheels 4 times (they come out of balance every two weeks or so), I'm being told my truck has "an inherent vibration" that they can't do anything about. Today, they acknowledged the vibration, said they reduced it some, but they don't thin they need to replace the tires. They said they drove another Ram off the lot and it was alot worse, so it's just something Ram owners have to deal with! I asked if they're telling buyers that their new truck will vibrate all of the time? That's unacceptable. They told me that they also saw the tread move up and down as the wheels turned, but that doesn't mean the tires are out of round? Also, one of their employess had the same vibration in his '06 Ram, after putting new tires (another brand) on, the vibration went away.
I even printed copies of numerous forum posts about this, and NHSTA reports about the Ram's vibration, and they don't think it's a nation wide problem.
I work in Aviation, and it's common knowledge that vibration causes serious problems down the road. They're "checking with their corporate office" to get authorization to replace the tires. One guy said they could use another brand, another guy said they can't. What else can I do? I never thought my full bumper-to-bumper warranty would be completely useless!! I'll keep all of you updated, but I can't believe a vibration isn't an issue to these people! Sorry for the venting, I just love everything else about the Dodge.
Seat shaking, and head hurting,
Jeremy
