Default curiosity got the better of me

i have a 2005 1500 QC hemi and a few friends of mine said that i should try to see what the truck would sound like with jus cats. my dad said "no. you could mess up the truck and i dont want no noisey truck at my house for the neighbors to complain about".now this is why i cant wait for the insurance papers and the title to be signed over to me because then i wouldnt be in this mess.so when he went on his yearly fishing trip to Deep Creek curiosity got the better of me and i stupidly cut off the pipe from the y pipe to the muffler. sounded great and i enjoyed it all week. he comes home the day after 2marrow. my friend has a little experience in welding but not enough that i would trust him under that truck. so how do i fix it with jus clamps?

im am just a friend of dvcap2004. i dont have a profile here

I did the same thing myself. When i put it back i used a 3 pipe with a biger end that would fit over the pipe then clamp it. You can buy the pipe at any auto shop.

There's a reason they are called Dad. They usually know a little better and have some pretty good advice. Unfortunately, I can't offer any help. So good luck on that one.

taking just the cats off and leaving the rest of the exhaust system would make it loud enough for your neighbors to complain i dont think. unless you have the neighbors from hell and i know how that goes. but i think he is right about messing up the truck. without the cats youll throw codes out the wazoo (i think). id fix it with clamps the best i could if i were you and then when dad comes home, do some research, save up the money and then when you have it all come to dad with everything and ask about an aftermarket exhaust if you liked the sound of it. mine only cost 216$$$ and most exhaust setups are designed to be tolerable enough to give a nice purr or growl and not disturb the neighbors or be unbearably loud. good luck.

If you only just cut off the pipes leading to the cats then Id say just leave it and see if he notices at all. Or Take it down to your local muffler shop and have the weld the pipe back on for like $15-$25 or Even better go out and buy a $60-$80 Flowmaster muffler and have them weld that in with the rest of the pipe and make it all ligit
