04 Quad Cab Ride Quality
I have a 04 2500 diesel, love the truck but totally hate the ride. On potato chipped roads it jiggles so badly I feel nauseous.
I understand it’s a tuck and all, but I’d like to be able to drive around without wanting to vomit. When it’s loaded or has a full tank of gas it rides far better than when empty.
I’m looking to upgrade the suspension in hopes of getting better ride quality while maintaining the trucks ability to handle heavy load and towing chores.
I’d appreciate any recommendations, suggestions and personal experiences with this
Thanks

I have an 03 QC with 20s. I have the 275/55-20 my buddy has the same truck with 275/60-20s and his rides alot smoother. I know its a small difference but the ride is alot better. I have the roughest riding truck in the free world i think. I have embraced it and now refer to it as the "on road package". Gotta love it until the speed bumps appear over the horizon.
mine has developed a bad feeling over small ripples and pot holes lately also, currently at 73k (got it at 60k). i've noticed a good amount of tread wear on the outboard side of the front tires, maybe a rotation will help. it's weird though, when i ride off road with big drops and stuff it just absorbs it and handles fine, yet these small fast changes in plane on pavement cause the truck to rattle and cause headaches. the shocks are still stock so i definately need to replace those. the edelbrock ias seem good on paper like how they can respond really fast, yet this product screams 'for race use'. in that i figure it's stiff as all hell at slow to normal speeds and only good for going over bumps at highway speeds, i'm probably wrong though. these cost a crapload. a co-worker recently replaced his rear shocks in an old bronco with monroe sensa-trac and says they are awesome. that the ride is really smooth now, they're also WAY cheaper to get. so i'm contemplating which ones to go with...
Ram04 - I think I've got virtually the same '04 truck - 1500 Quadcab, 4X4 on 20s with the shortbed.
Granted it's a truck, but the bumpiness can get bothersome at times. What bothers me the most is the poor sidewall deflection of the Wranger HP 60 series tires on the 20s, a couple of times when I've hit potholes I've almost had the steering wheel yanked out of my hands. I'm a Dodge fan, but really dumb for them to put these tires/wheels on a 4X4 - I took them because it was the last truck on the lot, had all the other options I actually wanted at a nice sale price.
I'm no mechanic, but I'm convinced that the 20s being so heavy along with cheapo front shocks and the nose-down imbalance of the truck don't do it wonders in the ride department. Mind you, this is my first truck, but I will say it rides better than my wife's SUV, which as a solid rear axle (they since changed the rears on these SUVs to independent suspensions) and wallows for about 10 minutes like a ship on the high seas after you hit a bump at freeway speeds.
At some point in the next few months, I'm going down to 17s, with new shocks, probably Ranchos.

Personally i dont mind the Truck Ride.. i practicaly compare all the trucks that my friends have to my truck to see which one is better
id rather have a truck ride then a car ride.. cuz it makes me feel invincible when im ridiing high in that truck,
my friend has a GMC 1500 Sierra. that thing is lowww... i park next to him... he looks like an S-10... [8D]

Mine is on 20s with the goodyear HPs and I also notice the truck tends to dart around when I hit decent bumps. I came from a Cherokee on 33" mud Grips with a custom leaf spring front ... and it felt a little more predictable than the dodge.
I feel that the 20's & tires are mostly to blame, but I could see the shocks playing a hand in it as well. I'm planning on swapping out the shocks to rancho adjustables and going to 17" wheels with similar sized tires ASAP.

I don't mind the ride quality of my '03QC, that is now that I'm used to it! It's a little hairy when you hit your first bump-steer moment though! Now I kinda like it!
The only thing I don't like is that my driver's side rear window rattles a little if all the way up when I hit a bump. Drives me crazy. I actually leave it down about 1/2" all the time now. Anyone else have this problem?

I LIKE it... My first truck, I dont care, let it beat my throw me arounf the cab on a bump... Oh but I did notice going over train track is a new experience, feels like the *** of the truck is on a trampoline lol
