Miles on vehicle to switch to Synthetic

Is it safe to switch at 55,000 or is that too many miles?

I've never heard of anyone having problems after switching to synthetic. I have only heard good things... except for the price of it, hahaha. I changed mine at 3000 miles on my Ram. All my cars have been mopar, and all ran synthetic reguardless of the mileage. My neon I switched at 15,000 miles, and my Lancer (back in the day) I switched at 115,000 miles. I say go for it, but just bite your tongue when the cashier tells you the price when you go to buy oil. I changed mine yesterday. I bought 7 quarts of Mobil1 5W20, a Mobil1 filter, and a $4 bottle of Lucas fuel treatment. The total came to $70. Oh well, I guess thats the price we pay for a lil better fuel econ, power, and hopefully some more longevity.
Many engines come from the factory with Mobil 1 Synthetic. The notion that you have to "break in" your engine with organic oil is simply an old wives tale. My Ram has almost 3,000 miles, I'll switch to Mobil 1 this weekend when I change it.
On my new ATV's, I generally change my oil after the first few hours or basically one long afternoon of riding and switch to synthetic.

I just took my truck in for it's first 3,000 mile oil change. While there, I asked the Service Rep if they recommend synthetic for the Dodge trucks. He said to maintain my warranty, I am required to change my oil every 3,000 miles. He said this was a Dodge requirement - as long as you change your oil every 3,000 miles, Dodge doesn't care whether you use synthetic or conventional oil. He implied my warranty would be affected if I only changed my oil every 15,000 miles with synthetic. Sounds dumb to me, but I want to keep my warranty.

Your service rep is full of BS. How can they prove you have or haven't changed it? Sorry, but this guy is trying to get you in for unnecessary and expensive oil changes. Most manufacturers recommend 6,000 intervals for oil changes, the oil and filter makers recommend 3,000...go figure why.
