On a stock truck, Yes you'll loose performance. Your truck's PCM was calibrated to include the Cat. If you remove it, First you set off the MIL (Check engine light), you'll loose alot of low end torque, and if your in an emission controlled tested area, you'll first will not pass the test and can be fined huge sums of money for tampering with the emission controll. If you want the exhaust louder, go with Long tube headders and a good Y-pipe with High performance/ high flow cat. I have an 05 hemi with just the "Hemi" cat back from flowmaster which encludes the HEMI specific 50 series HD muffler and the 2 tails. I think the sound is perfect. Every body on my block knows when I'm comming home. They say I have the loudest exhaust around. Yet the interior resonence is quite tame. When I get on it, look out! Its not only just loud, but it has that MOPAR muscle car sound. I've heard the super 40's and regular 40's and 50's. I say Mine sounds way better then any of these kits. There is no nasty crackle and pop during hard acceleration. Just my .02

Where are the mufflers located? I had a dual exhaust installed by meineke ("full boar" brand, and, no, I never heard of it either) a couple of years ago, ended up taking it off because when my allergies were bothering me my ears would be ringing by the time I got to work - the resonance was that bad. I put the stock muffler back on, and have recently been hacking up what I got from Meineke with my sawzall, getting ready. That muffler was positioned directly below the cab just after the y-pipe. I am going to put it back on but behind the rear wheel. This is a single muffler, 3" in, 2 x 2.5" out. I'm hoping the resonance will be tolerable in the cab. your thoughts?
