I was reading around a lighting forum just to check some stuff out and those guys ALL had some crap to talk on guys driving their 5.7 rams. They all said that they BLOW away guys in 5.7's and that dodge sucks blah blah blah (personally I think they should be racing srt10 guys being that the srt10 is dodges performance truck) I think the lightning is an awesome truck but have any of you guys or gals out there with a hemi ram raced and beat a lightning? or lost? share your story, I'm interested to hear about 5.7's vs. lightnings.

 

Unless its a well modded 5.7, no way can the hemi keep up to a lightning, hell it can't even keep up to a silverado SS stock to stock, and the SS gets blown out of the water by a lightning. I do agree they should try to bash the SRT-10 Ram as they are our performance truck. See who has the quicker truck then ford f*ckers. Also, they should be comparing their F-150's to the Ram 1500's. HEMI vs Triton, dont make me laugh.

Edit: ive rode in my buddies bro's SS and it is fast, well not fast, but quick. Anyways, he did race a lightning one time and he said the ford showed him the tailgate real bad.

No they were comparing svt to hemi. I know a lightning would win but what kind of HP does the lightning have pre supercharger if anyone knows? Thats surprising that an SS would beat a hemi pretty quick considering they both have 345hp, not sure on the SS torque though. Perhaps it could be the AWD...not sure though. But yes, the hemi would destroy a triton.

 

I hate to admit it but I was in a buddy's truck when he absolutely blew the doors off a guy in a SRT-10.
Pound for pound the Dodge should have beaten him, but I think the Lightning is a much lighter and geared for the street better than the Dodge. I'm constantly giving him hell telling him he had two years more experience than the guy in the SRT-10, and that was the only reason. However I will say them Lightning's are friggin fast, it's real easy to see tail lights on them.

 

I'm a Ex Ford guy, the Lightning is a excellant performing truck and I like over the SRT 10 Ram, Yes the SRT is quicker, 2 extra cy and bigger displacment will do that, the 04+ 5.43v are no where near close to matching the performance of the 5.7, the Ford is built for low end torque, the 5.7 has a much higer rev band to make the power.

A stock 5.7 can't match the H/P of a SC 5.4, the lightning is a lighter truck and lower to the pavement, the hemi is only 345 cubic in and for the power from the displacement, the 5.7 is a awsome engine, even in my 3/4 ton 2500 brick.

 

Dodge did make the srt-10 to compare to the lighting, but stock to stock the both run about the same. My buddy had a lighting with smaller supercharger pulley and exhaust and he raced an srt-10 and it won. When his truck was stock it ran 13.8 was the best he got. I have an 04 ram sc hemi and i ran 14.8 stock and 14.1 with a chip and intake. There isnt a whole lot of difference.

 

Ok ok ok.... yes the SRT-10 has two more cyl and more displacement.... you forget one very small thing... the "SVT" has a super charger... i know it can not be doing much but i think two more cyl and more displacement is a far trade off... i know ford cant build a fast NA engine.. but dont be complaining that the SRT-10 is faster

 

The lightnings are just fast, I went up against one a few months ago not knowing at the time it was a lightning i though it was just another debadged F150 that rolled up next to me with an exhaust, that was until I read the badge on his tailgate as he flew by me. The 5.7L HEMI has nothing on the SVT. Now Im sure if you were to add a supercharger or turbo on to the Hemi it be a whole nother story. As for the SRT-10 being beat by the SVT I'm sure that it would be a close race but Id be willing to put money on the SRT-10 over the lightning.

 

I had a run in with a stock lightning yesterday. We were at a dead stop and I looked over at him and smiled. Light turned green and I mashed her to the floor. One little chirp and the lightning was about 3 cars back spinnin the tires. He would have caught me but we only went up to about 60 in a 50 mph zone. All the guys complain about the slow throttle response of the 06's but it sure makes a difference. Remember, I have a RCSB 2WD Hemi. The lightnings are fast, but not as fast as you might think. If the Hemi's were SC'd it wouldn't be a contest. Stock HP on the Lightning is what? 385?
