Default Engine Light VS 'Check Engine'

This AM, my engine light (looks like the outline of an engine) came on and remained on steady (not flashing). According to the manual, it says to bring it to the dealer (once again) to have it checked.

Now, in the past the 'check engine' light was on and it was related to the evap system which only put be me back $600!

I guess I will stop by autozone tonight and see if they can read the codes...

Why would there be 2 different indicators to check the engine?

possibly the light that came on this morning is something preset by your dealer for a certain time of year or something check up? is your warenty running out maybe? such as 70k miles etc..

not sure, i was only aware of one light, the 'check engine' light 0.o

The odometer just passed 56K miles. Kinda of a weird place for a major tuneup.

Warranty already expired as it only had the 3yr/36K miles....

Thanks for the idea...

My engine light (outline of engine) comes on when there is a problem. For instance I had a sensor that was not working.

I think for a major problem the engine light blinks and thats when you should not drive it.

I could be wrong though.

Last time I had it to the dealer, they told me if the 'check engine' was flashing to stop immediatly.

I assume that if the 'Engine Outline' is flashing it would be that same. But it is on steady...
