Default thinking of getting a new ram..

So I have been thinking of a few different vechiles to get next... the list included

Chrysler Sebring
Chrysler Crossfire
Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited
Dodge Nitro SLT
Dodge Dakota SLT 4x4 4.7
Dodge Ram 4x4 QC

and honestly, unless I get a real sweet deal on one of the others, it looks like it will be the Ram. As it is the most practical for my lifestyle.

Obviously I am looking to keep costs down(Im a 20 year old college student) but I am wondering about options? engines? etc... about the Rams

how big of a difference is the insurance from a 4.7 ram to a 5.7 ram?

are there any options on your truck you wish you got?

I am an 18 year old college student and I purchased a 2006 regular cab SLT 4x2 5.7 this past week and I love it. I have ac, cd, cc, power seats, power windows and locks with remote entry, 4 wheel ABS, and an auto tranny and the truck rocks. Also Dodge was offering a $5,000 rebate and I got another $1,000 knocked off so I got a super sweet deal. I don't know about the insurance because my parents are paying for my insurance as I keep my grades up and make my truck payements and work around the house and all but I think the 4x4 will hurt the insurance more than the 5.7 but for some people the 4x4 is a must.

Best advice I could say is, get the hemi and dont get it geared any higher than 3.92. I had 3.55 and swapped to a 4.10 and the truck is so much better. Get it low geared and you will be much happier.

4x4 is a must for me... I live in Mid/Northern Michigan, and if I want to go down the freeway in the winter I need 4x4... honestly, they do not even plow any of the roads up here for at least 3 days after snow fall

they dont offer anything lower than 3.92s in the 1500. All they offer is 3.55 as standard and 3.92 as an option.

Have I got a deal for you. Since my Dodge Ram has been recovered I don't need my Chrysler Employee Discount any more. I bought it for $300.00 from a good friend of mine. The next time you go to see the Dodge Dealer tell them that you have the Employee Discount and see how much they will take off the price after rebates. Then If your interested ,send me an e-mail. A check will be fine. the cost is $300.00 ,that's what it cost me.

HAHAHAHAHAHA, that is about the funniest thing I have ever heard of.

1 Discounts are free, all you need to do is find someone who works for DCX and ask them to print you out a discount number.

2 and the funny part... My dad is a DCX engineer/quality control manager. I get the discount anyways.

yeah i know how needing 4x4 is. I used to live in missouri so it snowed and iced and i lived in a town of 2500 on a gravel road so i never had any roads plowed so my last truck was a 98 dodge ram 4x4 on 33's with a locker in the rear, did awesome in the snow. However, I moved to lasvegas and considering we get zero snow and like 3 rainy days a year i opted for 2 wheel drive, i don't need anything else. also when the weather got super crazy i had a 1986 jeep cherokee i built with air lockers front and rear a 4:1 transfer case, 4.55's 35's a roof rack with kc fogs pointing front and rear heavy duty bumpers and tow points everywhere. it was built for trail runs and rocks but it got used when we had a freak storm and i had to go places off of the paved road system.

I have been thinking of getting one too... I have had a white dodge ram sport for 10.5 years now and I love it but it is time for something new...

the only thing that I am uneasy about is the punch the hemi QC 2X4 had with the 3.92 gears and the 20" wheels... I drove it and it didn't feel even as quick as my current truck... was it the 20" wheels? was it just that it was so smooth and road so high that if FELT sluggish and it actually wasn't? does it do MUCH better after being broken in? someone please advise... I actually caught myself considering other brands of trucks...
