Default Trailer Towing Mirrors

I have a 05 Quad Cab 4x4 with the electric mirrors that have the heat/defrost unit. I was thinking of buying the towning mirrors (the ones that extend out) as I just picked up a trailer. Has anyone bought and installed these yourselves? The Mirrors are about $350.00 from the dealer and they want $235.00 to install them. Just wondered if I could do it myself and save a few bucks.

Should be able to do it your self. they are just held on with a few nuts from the inside of the door. might have to remove door panel to unplug the wire from the mirror is all.

if you know how to wrench, then I don't see why you can't do it yourself.
But if you don't trust yourself or never have any experience working on a vehicle before, then I guess take it to the "Stealership"...

Provided that the wiring harness matches up (i believe it does, can anyone confirm that??) then it is just a matter of taking off the inside door panel and 3 bolts that hold it into place. I took mine off to clean it a few months back and I took it off and back on in about 10 minutes tops.

Check e-bay. You can get the factory tow mirrors from several dealers that do business on e-bay for less than $300. I found one pair for just over $200.

DONT pay the extra money from the dealer. I got mine from e-bay from a Dodge dealer for under 250.00 and it took me all of about 20 minutes to put them on. Do it yourself. NOT worth the extra money.

The wiring is the same. I replaced mine when I bought my enclosed car trailer. The "hardest" part was removing the old mirrors - they need to come straight off the truck or else they get hung up.
