06 1500 hemi having some problems
I bought my 2006 ram 1500 2wd RC on september 16th and it has 479 miles on it just so you all know the info with the truck. Truck ran great until around 400 miles or so then when I turn it on and drive off after it has been sitting for a few hours or over night it sounds like it is reving pretty high but the rpm's are fine. It's almost like a ton of air coming out of the motor but it only does it for a few miles then the motor is running fine. My moms 02 durango with a 4.7 had this problem when it got around 100,000 miles on it and so did my old ram with a 5.2 when it was around 115,000 miles. i was just wondering if any of you hemi guys have experienced this and what it could be. I have a warranty so the truck is going into the shop a.s.a.p. but i just wanted to ask here and see what you guys and gals all thought it could be.
thank you for any help!

Maybe this is just me, could it be your electric fan? I know sometimes when I first start mine my fan turns on. Ive taken it to the dealership over and they say its normal for that to happen under some circumstances.
It is normal, someone asked the question a while ago.... Something about the clutch in the fan, son't ask me any technical questions about it. Someone is bound to read this that knows

mine does the same thing, it's the fan. i only notice it in the morning if the radio is off.

In my 2005, the problem is related to the torque converter draining while sitting. The symptoms are exactly as you describe. In my case, the noise goes away within a block or 2 after starting out in the morning. Most of the time once the truck is warmed up, the torque converter doesn't drain and I don't have the noise. This phenomena is explained in the operator's manual and doesn't cause any problems.

that would explain it being soooo bad in the morning for me because my driveway has a little incline so it drains out at night. is it bad on the torque converter or the tranny having it drain like that then driving it? also if you dont mind, where in the owners manual is that? thank you for any help and thank you for answering that for me.
