2002 Electrical Schematic
Does anyone have the electrical schematics for 2002 Dodge Ram 1500? My rear drivers side speaker suddenly decided to stop working. So in testing the wiring (with no success I may add) now the auto door locks are not working. Has anyone had this problem or know where I can get schematics to troubleshoot?
It's not a 2002 but here are the schematics for the 04-06's. Most of the stuff on the 04's should be close.
In order to reach the 04 page click on the Body Builders Guide on the left side.

Hey Bucknut, did you every get this resolved, my rear drivers side is doing the same thing... If you wiggle the wires and lock/unlock the doors you can get it to work. Ok it's probably a broken wire, so how do you remove the boot to get at it without wrecking it?? Anyone?
Thanks!
Hi, Well got tired of the PL, Speaker and Window working / not working occasionally.... first pulled the holy sh_t handles off with 10mm socket, the body casing was very simple to remove, removed the seatbelt bolt on the door column to expose the simple connector for the door wires.... Pulled the door panel, pretty simple, just remove the door release first, remove the single Philips head screw just under the handle, gently lift the entire door panel up, I was impressed at how nice and tight the whole panel was!!..
Fantastic!
Don't forget the wire loom clip to the window button. Once the door panel is off and out of the way, remove the speaker 3 screws, undo the clip, (nice clip connectors by the way, you don’t have to fight with them).
The wire loom is held in place with small plastic push through tabs, just push them out of the metal on the door, you can push them back in later, this will give you some room to work on the wires. The wire connector inside the door column simply pushes out after you disconnect it from the main harness in the sill. Carefully pull the wire harness from inside the door into the jam area, pull back the rubber boot, DONT RIP IT!! It’s tough but not that tough, do it with care or you buy another harness with the boot, 125$ CAD at local Dodge dealer here...
I immediately saw 2 broken wires, and 3 others that the plastic wire casing was hard and broken, probably from the wires shorting out for some time, might be a defect from Dodge since a few people are having issues with this.....
Now, fix it right, cut out the damaged wire just past the point of the casing getting hard, this will relieve you from pulling it all apart in the future to do the same repair...
Get some shrink tubing, some new 18 gauge wire cut and solder wires into place, use shrink tubing to seal the deal around each solder. Temporarily replace the door panel connecting the wire harness at all points and test. If you did a good job then it should work.
Pull off the temporarily mounted door panel, push wire harness back in place. Even though you did a good job with the shrink tube, use electrical tape to keep the wires nice and tight, replace boot connect, connect, connect, mount speaker... replace door panel. Replace the Door column covers and holy sh_t handle, and your good to go!
Simple job, approx 2 hrs if you haven't attempted this sort of thing before, 3 hrs with beer and a nice hot sunny day, taking your time and listening to tunes!
Mine works great, beats paying for the wire harness, got to enjoy the day and learn a little about the internal workings of a rear door.
I hope this helps someone somewhere.
Cheers!
