They do have a turn off if left on, but it is 8 min, and that is a long time.

Well, I'm taking my Ram to the dealer on Friday to have the accessory delay turned on. At first they said that they weren't sure if they could do it, then they said they said it wouldn't work on my Ram, then when I said that it should be able to be done with the Starscan tool under "setting customer preferences" they said bring it in on Friday and they would try it. I don't have a lot of faith, but I'll keep you all posted.

i watched the technician do it for me. stock it was set to have no accessory delay, i choose five minutes, and now after i turn off the truck the accessories (windows, radio, cig lighter, etc.) stay on. The only headlight delay i know of is when you shut off the truck and then turn off the light switch. The time that they stay on can be adjusted there. Not sure if there is an automatic shutoff if you forget to shut off the switch. Shouldn't be that confusing for the technician, all dodge dealers should have a starscan tool i would think.

For those of you interested in the StarScan tool.. check out this website

If you run some of the training stuff you can actually get some idea of how the Starscan works and it shows some of the options under the Vehicle Prep menu..[/font]

Well, I took it into the dealer, and after explaining what I wanted done to three different people, I finally got to speak to the tech who said, "Hmmm, never seen that but let's take a look - sounds do-able". Ten minutes later, I'm leaving with the power accessory delay activated and set to 10 minutes. Didn't charge me a penny. I don't understand why they don't turn it on at the factory.

Kind of makes you wonder what else could be turned on! Thanks for sharing that it could be done.

If you don't flip the switch, they DO have an automatic turn off. Interior lights will eventually turn off if left on, headlights, cargo lamp, etc....
Is that only on the newer rams? I have an 03.... Would mine be equpiied too?

I'm sure if I left the lights on long enough the battery would run out and they'd turn off "all by their selves"

I want to make sure I'm understanding everybody correctly. Your not talking baout the headlights or dome lights going off after so many minutes, right? Your are talking about killing the engine and still having power to the radio and windows without the key switched to AUX. The way GM has their trucks and SUV. Am I correct in understanding this?

That's correct, we're talking about the ability to shut off the engine, remove the key from the ignition and still be able to power the electric windows and radio. (Until you open your door or the time limit runs out. I had mine set to 10 minutes.)
