Default Automatic Headlights

Coming from a Ford I loved the automatic headlights, but the Dodge lacks that feature. Is there a place were I can get an aftermarket auto headlight kit, or does dodge even offer one that will work in my 2500? If there is a auto switch, how hard is the install and am I able to still use the default switch. Thanks in advanced.

I would think that you should be able to find a kit of some kind, because all fleet vehicles have to have day time running lights, and so do vehicles from Canada. It'll be a pain trying to find the sales code for that.

I to came from Ford, and went to dodge. The Ram is a ten times a better truck, but lacks a lot of the Ford creature comforts. What is the point in hitting the unlock buton of the key and having the hazzard lights flash? At night, the headlight's turning on makes more sense, and I do miss the power delay that Ford has when you turn of the ignition.

I'm not going to buy a 07 Ram to get this when I just bought a 06 and I'm more than happy with my Ram and a thousand times more dependable in the first 6 months than my 04 F-150 was in the first three.

I've only seen inside one or two 2006 Rams. Both of them were 1500s and I could have sworn both had automatic headlights. The headlight switch was different than the one in my '03. Looks like the new ones are round (to match the HVAC *****) and had a zero/circle symbol that means automatic on every other vehicle I've seen.

my 06 does not have automatic lights, however you can have the power accessory delay activated by the dealership with a starscan tool. Takes like 5 min to hook up, change the setting, and unplug. The starscan can also change multiple other options (headlamp delay, number of presses required on fob to unlock all doors, honk on lock, etc.). I think you can set the accessory delay from 0 min to 60 min.

You can order a daytime running light kit from a Dodge dealer in Canada.

If you want, email me at rosenede@telus.net and I'll price it for your truck
by VIN.

Now that would be cool. I called the dealership this morning if they could change (add) the accessory delay and they said they would have to look into it, and call me back. Any one know if this is a for sure thing?

Does that power accesorry delay determine how long the headlights stay on if you leave on the switch? Not that I want them on all the time, it is just that I am forgetfull and am usually in a hurry. I will call my dealer and ask them about it, but if they respond like they did when i asked them to engage my high idle (uhhhhhhh???) then it may be a little while. LOL

i watched the technician do it for me. stock it was set to have no accessory delay, i choose five minutes, and now after i turn off the truck the accessories (windows, radio, cig lighter, etc.) stay on. The only headlight delay i know of is when you shut off the truck and then turn off the light switch. The time that they stay on can be adjusted there. Not sure if there is an automatic shutoff if you forget to shut off the switch. Shouldn't be that confusing for the technician, all dodge dealers should have a starscan tool i would think.

If you don't flip the switch, they DO have an automatic turn off. Interior lights will eventually turn off if left on, headlights, cargo lamp, etc....
