any negatives of the superchip?
Is there anything bad about the superchip? Will it end up hurting my motor pulling more power out of it? also, can I just unplug it when I don't need the power? Is there an 89 octane setting so I don't have to run premium? if so will it still give me a good amount of noticeable HP? Can I clear out the computer so there is no trace of the chip as well so it won't void my warranty? Thanks for any info I just have a few questions before I drop $485 on something I don't know alot about.
If you're using the Superchips Flashpaq, it doesn't stay plugged in, it just reprograms your ECU.
If you get the above, then you have a high octane mode or a low octane mode. Fuel mileage is generally
best in low octane mode, but running mid-grade fuel. Not sure how it works with your ECU, ask Superchips
about that or have your dealer install it. As well, the chip does not see exponential power increases such as
turbo setup or supercharger would, so it really won't harm your motor any more then stock. It just adjusts
timing, spark and fuel mixture basically.

I have never heard any negative things about the Flashpaq, I am getting ready to buy one for my Ram. Has anyone seen any good deals for the Flashpaq lately from any of the DF sponors?
To add to that.....
The tuner has to be reset to the stock settings prior to taking the vehicle in for maintenance work or warranty work. When you bring your truck to a dealership for work like this they flash your ECU to give you updates and other programing they think your truck needs which will overide any other programing you have done. After they do this the Flashpaq wont be able to reload the programing back into the truck and will lock you out, so you have to send the chip back, get it updated/reconfigured (costs extra) and then reinstall.
Also since you can set rev limits and shift points so if you set them to high there is a possibility of severly hurting your engine which wont be covered under your warranty because of the tuner. So becarefull if you do any of your own tweeking with it.
Other than that its a great thing to have on your vehicle.

I dont plan on doing any of my own tweeking with it, also i think it will reconfigure its self with the internet update feature on the new ones so you wont have to send it in.
