Default Tire question...

I have a question about the stock Goodyear tires (20") I went to Discount Tire today and my back passenger tire had a screw in it and was not repairable...so they dropped the spare (same tire type exactly) and stuck that on the wheel...my question is: will this in anyway effect the other tires in a negative manner? Is this bad at all to have 1 brand new tire and 3 older ones (25,000 miles on them) It is not desirable for me to have it like this, id like 4 new tires, but $ is tight...also, what is the best tire pressure for a smooth rise and to save gas mileage? psi? thanks in advance guys!!!

These may be questions for the experts at the tire store. I run my tires at the max listed on the sidewall. Check it often supposedly it gives you better mpg, but it probably should stiffen the ride a bit.

I wonder if running one new tire on the back would mess with the anti-slip. The old tire has a slightly smaller diameter.

As for new tires, procomp is running the buy four for the price of three deal this month. 50K mile warranty on the A/T. Identical to the BFG.

Running a new tire with three old ones shouldn't affect anything unless the new one has a significanly thicker or thinner sidewall. But going from an old tire to a new tire using the same tires wont hurt any. At most it would be less than a 1/2" drop between the new and old tires. As for the tires them selves if you were to trade them in through discount they may or may not take them. From what they told me when I tried to trade mine in, the goodyears that fit on our rams (20" wheels in my case) will only fit other dodge ram wheels so unless they have someone looking for some or have a high demand they wont take them. Also the tires, through discount tire, cost around $210+/- or at least thats the listed price they gave me. THats why I switched to my Nittos, they are a better tire, they are cheaper in cost but a much higher quality overall, and the warranty's are much cheaper too. Granite mine are "street" tires but still the point is is that you can go out and get a much more desent tire to fit your needs which comes with a warranty so if you ever get an unrepairable tire the warranty will usually get you a new tire for free and then all you have to pay is the cost for the new warranty instaed of the cost of the new tire which is great!

As far as pressure is concerned I always run mine 5lbs+/- under the max pressure. If you want a smoother ride let out up to about 10-15lbs of pressure from the max but that'll kill your tire and make them wear unevenly and will hurt your mileage in the long run too. and if you want the most mileage and rougher/stiffer ride fill them up to the max but dont over fill them or you 'll hurt the tires and make them wear down unevenly.
