06 Ram Dash Removal
Yesterday I bought an aftermarket stereo from Best Buy they offered free installation so I figured lets do it. 3 1/2 hours later I told the tech I had to leave and needed my truck. He had not even got the new deck in yet. After leaving I noticed that the dash was all scarred up from prying. I will deal with them later. What I am after is advice on how to remove the dash to get the radio out without looking like I hit it with a chain saw.
Remove the rubber trays in the console (all of hem cup holders ect.)
this will expose three gold color screws (large) . remove them.
Then pull up the first section of the consloe.
This will uncover two more gold colored screws.
Remove these also.
Now you can remove the lower part of the dash (smaller panel) between the HVAC controlls and the floor part of the console.
It just pulls out down and out, towards the rear of the truck.
Now, up under the area that houses the HVAC controlls (that was covered by the previously removed panel) are two small black screws. Remove them.
You can now grab the trim around the radio/vents/HVAC ect and pull out and up and the enire thing will pop off leaving the sterio still in place held in by four screws.
You can now unclip all the wired connectors going to the transfer case controll and HVAC and 12v outets ect.
You can now remove your system.
Put it back together in reverse.
It's pretty easy, did it this weekend.
