Default RE: Fluids???

Welcome to the site.
Approximate capacities are as follows:
4.7L engine oil: 6 quarts
4.7L cooling system: 16.2 quarts (includes 1 quart for reservoir)
Power steering: varies depending on engine/chassis options, as well as cooler used (if any) and associated tubing/hoses (use ATF+4 transmission fluid for the pwer steering fluid)
Automatic Transmission: 46RE 4.0 quarts for service fill (drop pan and replace filter) overhaul fill (like a flush) about 10 quarts; 45RFE or 545RFE service fill is about 5.5 quarts for 4x2 and about 6.5 quarts for 4x4, overhaul is about 17 quarts. Of course, make sure you don't overfill the transmission fluid. (Use ONLY ATF+4 for automatic transmission fluid, do NOT use Dexron or Mercon fluids)
Transfer case: 1.75 quarts (Use ATF+4 automatic transmission fluid)
C250F Front Axle: appx. 1.75 quarts
9-1/4 Rear Axle: 2.5 quarts (use Limited Slip Friction Modifier, available at the dealer, for axles equiped with a LSD, failure to use this on a LSD axle can lead to failure of the axle)

Look in the owners manual? Why would you suggest such a thing!

Yup, Dodgerules86 answered it all for you. But you really should look into purchasing a Chilton Manual. Real beneficial.

heck you dont even have to purchase a manual. in the glove box there should be this really neat little booklet with all kinds of information in it that came with your truck. its got a table of contents and everything so you can find just what you need.

Default RE: Fluids??? ATF for power steering?

Thanks. I just got the truck and thought i did not have an owners manual. But i do. I think you guys gave me more info than the book does. If you read this again... Why do you use ATF for power steering rather than just plain power steering fluid?

as a technician at a dodge dealership i can tell you the 4.7's hold 6 quarts with filter change and the 5.7's hold 7 quarts with filter change, and we give free car washes

you can technically put atf in your power steering but i would not recommend puting power steering fluid in your tranny. at the dealership here we use atf for the tranny and power steering fluid for the power steering

Hopefully not in customer's vehicles. The manual specifically states ATF+4 for power steering fluid.
