How hard is it to change gears
Is your truck 4x4? Or 2WD? If its 4x4, then it'll take twice the amount of work, and twice the amount of money. I'm planning on changing my gears to 4.56 in a few weeks, and I'm not looking forward to the amount of work. I'm doing the work myself, becuase the dealer quoted a $1000+ labor bill for a 4x4.

It's not hard at all to physically change the gears, it's just hard to set the lash, and the mesh. The tools (dial gauge and the mesh paint) are really the only extra tools you need.
Our rears are really tough to setup even if you are a gear shop.
The backlash and preload are a bear and should only be done by an experienced pro that is familiar with these Chrysler rears or you will pay in the long run.
If you are truely a traveling man, contact me. I have a set of front and rears from my 1500 hemi ram with only around 4000 miles on them.

Yeah, if you are getting gears have a good mechanic put them in. I can do some wrenching, but Im glad I didnt dive in a try them myself, I have a mechanic buddy who did mine. Setting the lash was a little tricky, it could really be hard if you didnt know what you were doing...
