where do I put my whip?
I am trying to think of a good place to mount a cb antenna on a CCSB.
I really do not like the brackets that attach to the hood. Bumper, glass, and magnetic mount are also ruled out.
The main prob is I have a tonneau cover that sits on top of the bed rails.
One of my buds said to run a 4-footer horizontally inside the bed...has anyone ever heard of that? I dont think it would work.
Thanks

How about on a light bar in front???
I've considered this myself for the future. I intend to install a four light bar in the front of mine, when I do, I'll ask that the fabricator to add an additional bracket to allow me to install an antenna. This way I can see where the atenna is (no broken fluorescent lights at a drive though, plus no holes in my truck either. Just run the cable through the engine compartment and into the cab though a rubber grommett.

yea I was smart and drilled a hole in the front corner of my bed and mounted a perpendicular antenna mount and of course for some reason the antenna doesnt work there, probly bad wiring. So now I have a roof mount and a random chrome antenna mount sticking out of the bed of my truck.
Max...I like where you put that, I think I am going to try it with dual 2-footers...thats not too redneck, is it?
I guess I forgot one other question, what is the best way to get from the cab to the bed?

I went under the cab and came thru a grommet in the firewall. Goodluck trying to screw the cable onto the bottom of the mount after u mounted it, I did it that way and it was a pain in the A$$!! My only word of advice to you is to make sure u mount it correctly so no metal is touching the mount or else you get a short, and I think that is what is wrong with my antenna along with the crappy wire I bought from radioshack. It is a good look and its clean when you dont want an antenna also. Oyyea one more thing...be careful when you mount it because my antenna tends to sit at an ugly angle that I cant seem to fix.
good luck!
good luck!
You need to get some kind of mount fabricated from the frame between the bed and cab. On the drivers side is best. Please if your want a good setup don't go the dual antenna setup. I seriously doubt you have a radio powerful enough to need that which means you will only hurt the performance by doing so. I’ve seen guys mount some small angle iron, square tube, round stock, just about whatever you want that is small enough not to hit the bed or cab. If you run a Wilson type antenna you want your mount to be tall enough the coil is above the cab, other wise I would recommend a 4' fiberglass antenna in which case the tip only needs be about a foot over the cab.
Max do you know how to set your SWR's? That could be your problem. You don't do it at the radio that **** is just a meter to read so you can adjust it at the antenna.

I see why that would sit at an angle, thanks for warning me before I drilled.
Yea, Stroker, I just have a cheap cobra that looks clean in the cab...just two ***** and a display. I thought the dual would look cool though.
Thanks for the suggestions, I have to take a closer look and take some measurements...will let y'all know if I come up with something thats worth writing about.
