Bounce - mass damper
I've noticed that on the 06 and 07 Rams Dodge has installed a weight (looks like a small cylinder of steel) on the outside of both frame rails near the rear of the front door.
I'm trying to determine if these were installed to minimize resonance in the frame, thus reducing the bounce on some roads.
If they are to improve ride, can they be retrofitted to previous model year trucks?

I finally found someone at dodge that could ID them. Dodge calls them Mass Dampners and they are there to reduce/absorb movement of the frame. They are part number 55366973AB for the left side and 55398148AA for the right side. They run about $52 a piece. Still can't find anyone that knows if they will help earlier trucks.
Anyone have a contact within a dodge design group that might have a clue?
