The majority of the members on here swear by 4.56's, but I've heard if you get really serious (nitrous, turbo) you might want to stick with 4.10's so that you don't eat through the gears too quickly. I would guess that your daytona has 3.92's, or possibly 3.55's.

It depends on how fast you are in the 1/4(if that is what you race) and your tire size. You want to cross the line at about 5600-5800 rpm because 5-6K is where the Hemi really wakes up. The drop in rpm's from 2nd to 3rd is killer and a normal truck doing say 14.5 at 98 mph would cross at about 4100 rpm in 3rd with the stock 20" tires and 3.92 gears. Switch to 4.56 gears and your rpm would be 4800 which is much better(good take-off) but you need to have the power to push those gears at the top. Taht same setup with 29" tires/wheels would have you crossing the line at 5400 rpm given the same 1/4 times and mph.

Some people have exceded that mph allowed by the 4.56 gears and have been going into 4th because of their smaller tires and the fact that they are doing 12's with nitrous.
