First off I must say this my dad is a Ford guy (drives an 03 F-250 TD) my grandfather is a chevy guy (drives an 06 Silverado 4x4) AND I am a Dodge guy... Although my Ram is 2wd, my dads old 96 F-150 5.8L was 4x4 and had the shifter on the floor, however he had the dealership install the Hub locks because he didn't trust the electronics... Never had a problem with it, that truck was a work horse. My grandpa's old silverado had the push button 4x4... He got one of the old body style 99 trucks (99 was the first year chevy had the new body style) he bought it brand new and traded it in with about 190k miles on it and the push button 4x4 never let him down.

I'm the odd one here, 6 sp manual and electric shift 4x4... I agree the manual shift on the fly are better, but with changing gears, i don't want to be pulling my rod evey time I need or want to get Dirty...
