Stock Tires, Safety???
I was at about 25,000 miles with my QC Hemi with no signs of serious ware on the factory Goodyear's. About 2 weeks ago I let my mom drive it and while on the highway in the rain, she did 3 full spins and somehow found herself in the grass with no collision. I took it to Dodge and they told me that the stock POS's need to go. I now have brand new Terra Grapplers on them and Im loving it, the drive and traction is so much better. Word of advice if your over 22-23 thousand with the stocks, START to look for new tires. I'll post some pics of the new look soon.
haha, im at 47000 on the stocks on the fiances truck, and shes great... but yes, shes getting some bridgestones and im getting me some terra grapplers on mine. what size terra's did you get?
I replaced my original Michelin 245/70/17 "car tires" at 500 miles with 265/70/17 Goodyear forteras. Awsome looking tread,
great traction. Now it won't even spin off the line. It just goes for it.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here, but perhaps your mom doesn't fully know how to drive something with a large engine. It's quite understandable if someone is used to driving a 4 or 6 cylinder and then tries driving a large vehicle with a large engine in wet weather. I'm not taking anything away from the tires, don't get me wrong. I've broken the stock tires loose in the rain a lot easier than I thought they should have. However, I'd never let my wife drive it in the wet with the stock tires. I swapped them for 33" Pro Comp A/T's, and I've had several people drive my truck in wet weather (I'm unable to), and they are all surprised how well it handles.
Stock tires arent' dangerous, per se, but they do take some finesse.
