Hemi swap
Has anyone atempted to swap a 4.7 for a 5.7 in their 4.7 truck. I don't know if it is even possible but I've read that there are several adapter kits for mating a hemi to multiple Chrysler tranny's. I know that the 2 motors run two diff. tranny's but was wondering if anyone has ever done this or know of someone who has. Excuse my ignorance if this is a stupid question...................
I have never seen this kind of swap because I think it would be cheaper to simply just trade the 4.7 in for a hemi but I have seen hemis swapped into jeep, toyota and suzuki rock cralwers and mud boggers. The hemi was rated the #1 four wheeling engine by a few different magazines.
That saprises me since the LS1 is saposed to be able to handle as much as 700 hp on the stock bottom end. It seems a much better motor when it comes to modifying. Unles they were just rating the motor in stock trim only. Either way if you are going to go the trouble of swapping a motor for your 4.7 I would look seriosly at the 427 Hemi you can get with fuel injection. Then that hemi badge on your truck will mean something. Don't get me wrong the stock 5.7 is a great motor, I love mine, but if your going to the expence and trouble of a swap why not put in something capable of some real power. Without swapping the bottom end the 5.7 is far from that.
Where would I find the parts to go about this?

Ok it was a little bigger then a 426 but thats a good thing if you can afford the gas.

If that doesn't tell you where to get the parts then write them. Damn I cant wait till the Challenger comes out.

I see boneyard motors on ebay all the time. I just saw 2 the other day that had been pulled from trucks. Usually you get the transmission too. If it were me I'd probably try that route. I think a swap would be more worth while if you were putting a hemi in a jeep wrangler or something. If I just wanted a hemi in my Ram, then I'd probably just trade it in and buy a truck with the hemi in it.

Hate to bring things back from the dead, but now I would like to upgrade my 02 4.7 to a 5.7 I can not get financing for a new truck, and I really like the one I got. We are inheriting a fifth wheel camper, and I want more power to pull it. Has anyone done this swap yet? Thanks!
