Default driveline clunk

My 06 with 6 speed sometimes has a clunk in the driveline when taking off in first gear. Usually after braking a little heavy. This may cause the pinion angle to move temporarily and it clunks when the shaft settles back down when the engine torques it? Seems like the driveshaft yoke is hanging up at the trans or perhaps a dry U-joint? My buddy had this with his 95 Jeep and it was a lube-able U joint that was causing the clunk. Any thoughts?

take it back to the dealer. i ahd the same problem with my 06 1500. they said it was my exhaust rubbing onto some other metal crap. forgot what it was exactly. but yeah, just go to the dealer and they should have it covered.

Yeah, I figure I would get as much ammo before going in so I could give 'em a few possibilities to check before they say they can't find anything or don't know where to look.

Dealer can't find anything wrong. I told them to at least lube the driveshaft where it goes in the trans and any u-joints that have zerks. Sheesh. Do something....

Those are some asswipes working at the dealer. If there is no code, nothing is wrong. I hate mechanics of now a days, stupid *** ASA dumbasses 14,000 strong. Mechanics of old days could tell you by driving and listening, now forget it. Everything is NORMAL if there is no code. You car can be falling apart, but no code, "oh your car is fine", "that's a normal sound." The less warranty work for them, the better. Wait until you are out of warranty, then that clunk will cost you $1000.
