Default fuel tank

okay... i have a 2002 qc 4.7 4x4. i figured that it has an 18gal tank since when i fill it takes 18.5 gals max. well i went to the dealer with some questions and they told me that there was no such thing as an 18 gal. tank in the rams. this tech just sucked at life and didnt know what he was talking about right? or is this like one of those drug movies where they smuggle crack in the fuel tanks and if i split the tank open i will find 3ks of crack?

Can you look in your manual to check? It wouldnt be an 18gal tank since you put more than 18 in it when you fill up.... and when you fill up, it shouldn't be completely dry, so maybe a 20 gal tank?

2003 manual says there is 26 and 35...I know there is a reserve designed into it, but I don't know how big it is.

my manual says nothing about tank size. it could be 20 gallons, but he was very sure that it was only a 26 and 34 gallon tank. in researching online, ive also only seen 26 and 34 gallon tanks.

03 1500 have a 26 gallon tank and then 2 gallon reserve so 28 gallons! if you get a build sheet from the dealer using your vin.....it will tell you exactly what tank you have and the reserve on it!

if you are filling when the light comes on, chances are there's still at least 5 gallons in it. I have the 35 gallon tank, and I've noticed that the fuel light will come on when there's still 7 gallons left.
