Talk me into a Dodge
I am an owner of a 04 toyota tundra. I am wanting to go to something a little bit bigger and have been looking at a few dodges
I have my eyes set on an 04 Black Hemi, 20", power everything (Quad cab). has 40K miles on it and we are at 20K out the door (tax tag everything)
my question to you all is. Does that price sound resonable? should i shoot for 18,5....19k out the door?
What have been the main problem threads on here with this particular truck? With toyota they talk about the crappy breaks they have. i'll second that. the dodges have the nicest braking system in the world. But is there alot of talk of tranny problems? How many miles are these trucks averaging before they are dead?
I could honestly say, i feel my toyota could go 200k w/ out any problems. Could u say the same with a dodge?
Fill me in on the Pro's and Cons....

Carmax has an 04 QC Hemi SLT 4x4 with 28K miles for $20K down the street from me. I'd keep looking or work on the price some more. For a couple grand more you can get a new one with the same equipment. With the lower interest rates on new cars, you might be better off going new. Just a thought.

Dodge solved their tranny issues with the new 5-speed auto. As for miles,.. I took a 1998 Dodge Ram 5.2L SLT 4x4 to 139k miles. It still looked new and didnt burn any oil when I traded it in. The 1998 tranny needed adjusted but other than that it was great. The new Dodges should easily see 200k with proper care. I have used sythetic oil in all my trucks and I would recomend it. The new Dodge Ram's Fit and finish and build quality are miles ahead of my last Dodge Rams.

yah i agree with heminate, if u need to be talked into buying a dodge u should just keep your toyota....tranny problems are no longer an issue, i have a 94 ram at home that is at 238000 miles and still running strong, transmission in that truck has been rebuilt once before i bought it. but personally, keep your toyota if u need to be talked into buying a dodge...just my $.02 worth

if you're worried about the tranny blowing, its the torque management thats responsible for that so buy a Superchip and that will shut the feature off and put some kick into it. Just buy the Dodge. However, 20K out the door seems kinda steep so look around more. Take the Vin # and go to Blue Book and see what its worth, then add maybe a grand and call it a day.

Every vehicle out there has it's pros and cons. Basically test drive the heck out of what you want and then look at add-on warranties. You should have a transferrable 7/70 left over on the Dodge. That would leave you 30k miles left and if the tranny's going to mess it, it will do it in that amount of time.
You can cruise through all the posts and see what problems are common to the Dodge.
$20k with TT&L is a fair price. That puts the truck at about $18k?

I dont think he really is asking to be talked into buying the dodge he obviously likes it or he wouldnt be sourious about buying it. he said he wants a bigger truck. i would say get it but like stated before maybe look around maybe or try getting the price down. good luck.
