What the hell??????????
Alright guys I have a tough one for you this time and it is completely baffeling me right now. I was driving down the freeway this morning on my way to work doing around 70mph and my truck just turned off. The engine just plain and simple shut down and coasted! Luckly I was in the outside lane so I was able to pull it off to the side while it was slowing down. It almost felt though as if the limiter kicked in, but at 70???? Ive gone way over that and haven't had it just shut off like that. The truck only has 20,000 on her, it was at a half a tank when it happened, she started up and warmed up just fine this morning and has been running great since the day it rolled off the lot. I still had battery power so Im fairly sure that it didn't go as I could still attempt to crank it but had no luck at starting it. I checked for codes using the key and nothing popped up, the engine temp was at the same operating temp as usual, had the same oil pressure as usual, everything I could think of was filled up to the proper amount.
So there I sat on the side of the freeway in rush hour traffic and after about 10-15min of just sitting there not doing anything I gave it one more crank before I was going to call a tow truck and it started right up like normal! WTF! I was able to get it to my office about 15min away from where I was and it drove perfectly all the way there. When I got to my office I checked it from bumper to bumper inside and out, climbed under it, popped the hood looking for anything out of place, checking all the fluid levels, and everything looked fine. I am completely stumped as to why it would just all of a sudden just cut out like that. I am taking it down to the dealership when they open today to have it checked out to see what the hell happened cause I cant think of anything that could possibly cause this to happen.
(And no the programer was not being used when this happened. I removed it about a week and a half ago and set it back to the stock settings when I took it in for and oil change)

I had a Civic that would do this. It would get a violent shudder (bang) and start coasting (usually when a big a**sed semi was behind my little car.)
I was told it was a clogged fuel filter by the dealer, which they replaced. It did it again so I returned to the dealer who discovered it actually had two filters which they did not realize (some knowledgeable dealer there huh) and they replaced the second one.
That fixed it.

that sounds like the fuel filter to me, did you get gas at a different place than normal? Some dirt might have also gotten into the fuel, have you taken your truck out to play in the mud?
Well I took it down to the dealership this morning and it did it again on the way there and this time wouldn't start back up again, so I had to get it towed in
..... They worked on it for about an hour and just called me up saying that the fuel pump was shot. The tech said that one of the electrical relays(?) was completely fried or something to that matter.

Did the fuel pump resolve your issues?
I have been having the stalling problem at stop lights and now it is happening at driving speed also. I just had it stall at 40mph and lock up the steering also. I have taken mine in three times now and they say that nothing is wrong with it. The NHTSA has an open investiogation on it. I have spoken to a few people who have had their truck bought back by Chrysler because they cannot fix the problem. I have a feeling that is where mine is headed.
Just curious!
