Have you had any repairs under the dash? Or under the truck near the transfer case? i was thinking maybe some wires or connectors got their wires backwards. Other than that, I'd have to say there might be a short in the switch. I'd be interested to see if putting in a new switch cures the problem.

man i have the same problem (03 ram 4x4), i do a lot of beach fishing and it's rough, i just figured that the sand and elements got to it...still shifts and engages 4x4 hi and low just fine, it's just the light on the dash is bassackwards....weird

took it to dealer a while back and they said the switch was bad, but didn't know for sure...was just talking with the guys there, didn't have them actually look at it since i was on my way to the coast...

please post up when you find out the problem...

well it was the switch you where talking about before, I go fishing at a place called the siletz river on the oergon coast, we get huge chinook salmon runs in the fall and great sturgen fishing in spring and in the late fall we also have huge steelhead runns too.

yeah, that was my guess (the switch) since everything still operates ok....

them sturgen get huge, never had the opp to fish for them, we mainly fish the texas coast off the beach at the Padre Island National Seashore, we like to chase sharks with our kayaks beyond the breakers....
