i am rebuildin a 9.25 now. where can i get the clutch pack and retaining rings without having to pay an arm and a leg to the dealer? i am on a fixed income so i dont have the 500.00 for these spacers. also, if anyone has a diagram of how they go on, i would appreciate you emailing it to me. my father in law tore it apart and then left it for me to fix. i am paying 450 a month for this truck and it is the only means of transportation for my family. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Look around this site for the link to the service manual and download it. It has a pretty discriptive section on rears to get you started. If you are really trying to do the repair on the cheap look for a open differential as there are plenty who have swapped out good pieces when upgrading to aftermaket diff's.

Just leave the clutches in place and remove all the retaining C clips as they are called.
My truck ran over 20K miles without problems and so have many others.
So, if money is an issue, pull the clips, clean out the entire diff and axle and button her all back up. Save up for the clips and install them later.
Put fresh 75W 140 diff oil in and you'll be good to go.
Hope this helps?
Al.

I wonder if this might not be a good alternative to replacing the OEM unit? Any input from those who have used it.

Great find!
Talk about "a picture speaks a thousand words"!!!!!
Well worth the read and I'm so clued up now, about what, why and how my original LSD became damaged.
I'm SOOO glad that I now have a DTT installed.
