Need Help with Cus Assist
Ok,
So I am a very proud and happy Power Wagon owner. With that being said there were a few minor things that bothered me or made me wonder about my vehicle. Some of those things I have previously asked for input on in previous posts.
I bought a 2006 Dodge Power Wagon- Used. So I believe this limits my rights and entitlements, but I am not sure.
Upon purchasing the Power Wagon I noticed it had no Sirius Satellite Radio, which I thought was standard equipment with the power wagon package. I then did some investigating and learned that there are a few Power Wagon packages, one of which is a 25p which does not have satellite but is sequentially numbered. The other is a 26p which includes Satellite radio but does not say it’s sequentially numbered. There are more differences between the two, and may even be more packages, but the Sat radio is what I am dealing with at the moment.
So I wrote DC customer assistance and politely asked for a build sheet on my vehicle. The gladly furnished me with a build sheet (Attach 1) In the build sheet it lists my Power Wagon as a "26p customer preferred package" Which would lead me to believe that it should include the Satellite radio. This prompts me to return to my vehicle brochure for the 2006 model year which has a black dot under the Sat option and power wagon indicating that it should be standard. (Attach 2) From there I write back to Chrysler asking why I would not have satellite radio if there was something I was miss-reading from the build sheet or if there was some other nuance that I was unaware of. Maybe some of you on here would know?
To this DC replied that it was 100% not a factory option and that I was referring to a dealer option that could be added afterwards and that I should go back and talk to the dealer to resolve the issue, because it was not a factory included option. So this coupled with the fact my other request for part numbers or a good source for part numbers was passed off on the dealer, made me quite upset. (An aside, the part numbers I was looking for were for the winch hook and hook strap seeing how it did not come with it, and my local dealer told me the only way to get it was in the winch kit couldn’t get individually-Warn industries were stand up business people and supplied me with the factory part numbers for the above parts as well as their own- Great company to deal with)
Anyways, so I then responded to DC, providing those links to window stickers that had the different packages and asked them again to explain to me why I did not have it. Once again they responded that they had done all that they could and that now it had to be taken up with the dealer because this was not standard equipment and was available as an add on.
I wrote back asking to speak with a supervisor or the next person in the chain and have had no response from DC to date.
As I said in the beginning of this post, I do not know what entitlements or rights I have as I bought this vehicle used. But I do at least expect a more dignified answer than its "not standard equipment" and we can not help you. I am open to the idea that I have limited knowledge on this model line and that I may be missing a piece that would indicate why I do not have the Satellite radio, but would it kill them to explain to me WHY?
Ok, well at this point I is feeling discouraged, but I am also curious what is going on- Am I nuts (well a little but so) did someone forget to do it on the assembly line... Just an answer an answer would make it better sleeping at night. A Sirius tuner and install kit would be icing but I would settle for an answer.
So should I call instead of talk to chrysler via email or is there another authority to speak to or am I just an idiot and not supposed to have the satellite radio?
Thanks guys sorry once again for the long post, just curious.

well from reading that i see that you bought the vehicle used. was there a "buy as is" sticker on the truck? also i dont think the dealer would give you a satellite radio now, they are just gonna tell you well you saw the truck when you bought it so we cant put one in. but i say call chrysler and talk to a rep. maybe they can clear this for you.. sorry you've had a bad start with your dodge. hope things get better.
Both are very valid points. And I have soley been dealing with a Chrysler Rep via Customer Assistance on the dodge website. I dont think they would have un-installed it as it would have left a hole in the roof of the truck. Also this was a Chrysler Promotion vehicle so I doubt a salesperson was up there tinkering anyways.
Re: winch hook and strap. Obviously they "lost" it. Probably was never installed. Was there a huge red rubber band holding the end of the winch cable to the drum?
Those parts come sealed in a plastic bag with the winch controller un-installed on the cable when new. The dealer may not keep the bag with the vehicle while sitting on the lot for test drives, etc. so it's not stolen. They sometimes do the same thing for the DVD navigation CD since it costs about $150 and could fit in someones pocket. When I bought my truck, the winch parts bag was locked in somebody's office, and I had to return the next day to get it. I had them put it in writing, before I took delivery, that they owed me that item. Otherwise you're S.O.L. once you drive it off the lot. Many legal forms were signed by me that stated just that... (That's how it works in California). Actually I got two DVD Nav CD's because they gave me one during predelivery setup and I found another one in the center console...[sm=thanx.gif]
Re: Sirius Sat radio. Are you sure you don't have it, and the anntenna wasn't installed? Then it may be covered in a warranty situation, IF you have a factory warranty.
The Sat. receiver is located under the dash behind the glove box on the 2006 ram. Also, like you said, there definitly would be a hole/plug in your roof if there had been an antenna there.
I don't know about your State you live in, but in mine, there would be nothing you could do even if you bought it new instead of used. I'm sure your dealer sells used vehicles "as is" anyway, and I'm surprised they are being even a little bit nice to you now that they have your money...

Just curious as to your impressions on the power wagon. What kind of gas milage are you getting? It that thing a beast or what LOL.
I was going to purchase one (2006) but a 2500 Quad cab with a Cummins caught my eye instead.

I bought my Power Wagon new, and it DID come with Sirius and the winch/hook.
That being said, I was always told whenever you buy a used vehicle it's "Caveat Emptor" or "buyer beware" meaning you don't have a leg to stand if you don't like something AFTER the money's changed hands. Honestly bro, even if the truck should've had these things, you signed on the dotted line saying you'd take it. Good luck getting them to give you the Sirius for free, I hope it works out for you. Don't sweat it too much-- I haven't been very impressed with the Sirious programming so far, and only listen to it half the time I'm in the truck.

Well I appreciate everyone's input. And I have been using the DC Customer Assist under like contact Chrysler. Not the Dr. Z Thing.
And I completely understand that it is buyer bewar and tooo bad for me once the money changed- I am fine with that. In my opinion PW's are Rare there havent been any local here for sale since I began looking 9 months ago. Furthermore to get the truck I wanted in the color/trim I wanted I had to go 700 miles to Ohio to get it AND I LOVE IT.
But in those 9 months of looking you begin to notice things about the truck such as what is included in the different options ect.. ect... one being that the sirius is supposed to be in the 26p quick order group.
And I dont care about a 6 dollar hook or a 2 dollar strap, just pissed me off that the Chrysler couldnt give me the part numbers, neither at the dealer nor online from their customer assistance. Warn ended up giving me Chryslers part numbers, they also provided me their own and I have since headed out to one of their dealers and purchased those pieces from warn.
Anyways, I dont care, I am more interested in why I dont have the sirius than I am about getting it. A simple answer explaining that you need to have 26p-2 to get sirius and I only have a 26p-1 or something along those lines would make me very happy. However they continue to tell me that it is not a standard option.
