If vehicle cost was the same, would you go gas or diesel?
I am wondering how much the cost of the Diesel engine factors in to people's decision at purchase time. If you had a chance to get either engine in a Dodge Ram 2500 or 3500 for the exact same cost, which would you choose?
diesel for sure. I wanted one when i bought my truck this spring but just couldnt afford the extra cost. Excited for the new 1500 with a cummins in it come 08 i think it is!!
diesel for sure. I can't afford a new diesel being only 18 but I could get a 4x4 quadcab diesel and lift it and easily SMOKE about every hemi out there. I have a friend who has a 2001 cummins QC 4x4 on 35's and he's running high 12's in the 1/4. I also want to be able to tow everything out there and most importantly, DO THE BLACK SMOKEY THING
get the diesel, I for sure am for my next truck.
get the diesel, I for sure am for my next truck.
My next truck is gonna be a 3500 QC with a cummins, chipped up blown the nice thick black smoke into them rice burners windows as i blow by em....i love the sound of a diesel in the mornin.

if i had alot of money then gas because i want something with upwards of 450 rwhp and to get that out of a gas burner it takes alot more money than it does to get that same power out of a diesel. also id problly go gas anyways because i like to go mudding and diesels arent that good in the mud even when lifted due to their front end weight. but i have to admit the sound and smell of a diesel pushing out huge amounts of torque and hp and billowing black smoke is hard to beat.
yup, like this will ever happen!!!!
Thiers is no question the cummons is twice the engine as the hemi, it cost' five times as much, need's close to twenty liters of oil, will move a house ( the hemi a slightly more down sized house ) and is great for all the ego mannyics who drive to the grocery store....
The majority of the D trucks I have seen of late ( Ford GM Dodge ) have been lifted, 3 in ex, no trailer hitchs, and all have crazed male zombies wanting to race me in my little 2500 with a 21 ft. gose neck trailer loaded up with cribbing forms...Hum....The cummons is awsome, but in the hands of the stary eyed, un in Formed, a total waste...
Now some dodge owners with the hemi suffer the same fate, go fast, sleep in late, cry abought poor gas mileage, worry abought takeing on GM's 6.0, or going out thier way to run down the 5.4 Ford's...
Booth the hemi and cummons excell at what thier desgined to do, I don't need a 7 grand engine to do waht a 1250.00 engine can do.
( I admit I may be off on the pricing, ie factery ordering, but not a lot... 5.7 vers 5.9 8 cy vers 6 )
