Thanks guys!

I did not mean to start a war, but I find it hard to believe that a 4.7L can't be beefed up without a complete engine overhaul. I am not looking to compete at the next Gator Nationals, I just want to gain 15 -20 HP.

Thanks Air Ram....
No problem...

This is not a war, everyone has an opinion and we are ALL here to help one another. He feels strongly that the 4.7L has no potential and I drive DAILY proof that it does have potential.

There are mods out there that can get you a significant performance boost. YES it is cheaper to start with a larger engine... but since you already own a 4.7L thats no longer an option for you. If you need any help chosing the right mods please feel free to contact me and I will help get you going in the right direction.

Oops! I gave credit to the wrong guy.

Thanks John
Who was the right guy?

Credit for responding to my question with some possible ideas. Not sure who is right, but I am a RAM guy....not sure what Lightning he is referring to.

I dont know what you guys have been smoking but when my 05' Reg. Cab 1500 HEMI was stock it was pretty damn quick, not the fastest thing on the road but it was quick, after adding the mods I have done to it its gotten alot better and quite a bit faster/quicker, so is it "Slow"??? HELL NO!!!! Is it "Fast"??? No, but mid 13s aren't to bad for a brick either.

Now as far as making the 4.7 faster yes it is possible with the right modifications. I've seen a few 4.7s run mid-low 14s which is what most HEMI's I've seen run. Its not an impossible feat to do it. Replace your entire exhaust setup from the headers back, invest in a CAI, find a programer, swap out your gears, throw in a larger cam, throw on some good performance tires (everyone seems to leave that one out of the performance upgrade list but it is a nessesity), give it a 50-75 shot of nitrous or find a turbo/supercharger and you should be good to go and will probably take out just about every HEMI you come across (unless they have done about that too then your just SOL!)

(Just for the record I need to update my Mod's List cause I've added a few things in the last 2 months)

Thats the point I was trying to get accross... If you can make your 4.7L out perform a stock HEMI then it would then be considered QUICK!

You wouldnt need the N20 to accomplish the goal to become QUICK. With just 4.56's, 206 cams, Intake, Headers, Performance "Y", true single 3" exhaust & E-Fan you will be leaving with our (STOCK) bigger brother off the line all the way to the 1/4 mile. BUT a 100 shot of N20 would sweeten things up real nice.

Look up the track times of STOCK 5.7L QUAD CAB HEMIS... they are all around the 10.30 -10.20 in the 1/8 mile... I run consistant 9.70's N/A. I have had a few Dips below 9.5 but since my A/F ratios are 10:1 or less at WOT I cant consistantly run those time.... To date my best is 9.38 but I have yet to repeat it or come close to doing so. As soon as I get my AF ratio up to 13:1 ball park I think I will be running LOW 9.3x I cant wait.

I would not recomend it.

Too much exhaust for such a small 287ci engine...

Stick with a SINGLE 3" exhaust system. swap out your factory "Y" pipe with anHigh Flow "Y" Pipe and go right into a 3" Single exhaust with a HIGH FLOW 3" in 3" out Muffler. With the money you saved get a set of GIBSON headers and be done with your exhaust system.
