Tranny makes wierd noise?
This noise comes from my tranny, it's a wierd noise that I have never heard from any other line of car/truck. It sounds like someone is slowly closing a squeeky door. When going from Reverse to Drive this noise especially happens, but even heard it while coming to a stop (probably shifting from 2nd to first). Does anyone else have this problem? I am in a 03 1500 Ram 4.7l standard cab. Thanks!
These traanies do have a tendency towards noises. I get a clanking noise when going into forward and reverse and a kind of whining noise while driving. That being said, I've never heard it make a noise like you are descibing. I would check your fluid level. If the level is good you might want to bring it to the dealer. Sorry I couldn't help more.
Mine makes the same exact noise, I just got it, so I know that it was looked over with a fine tooth comb, all fluid levels are topped off and the trans shifts like new. Interesting....I was wondering this very question the other day. Mine only does it from R to D, or vice versa. If I shift from D to 2 or 1 for example, I never hear anything....
BTW, first post on this board! I am a mustang guy that just got my first Ram, and lovin it so far.

you mean the claking noise of the squeeky door noise? I know mine whines to...almost like its low on transmission fluid, but the levels are ok? I don't know if I will get any closure on this topic...i guess a lot of people have these strange noises.
