Before my neighbors shoot me.....I need help turning off the horn when I use the remote to lock my '07 Dodge 1500 Hemi Quad Cab. I've read the manual many times, and tried...UNSUCCESSFULLY...to turn off the horn. Here's what I'm doing:

I get out of the cab and press the lock button on the remote (which locks the truck and causes the horn to blow). I hold down the lock button at least four seconds....but not more than ten.....then while still holding down the lock button, I press the panic button...hold them both for a second or two, then release them both similtaneously.

After following this procedure, I press the unlock button....the driver's door unlocks....then press the lock button (just to check to see if I've been successful), at which time the doors lock and the horn blows again.

What am I doing wrong? What do I need to do differently? My neighbors and I will all be grateful if any of the good folks on this forum can provide some assistance.

It's in the manual, I would check again. I don't really remember how I did mine, but I believe you need to have the key in the ignition.

 

take it to the dealer they can hook it up to a StarScan and do many things, delay accessories, turn off belt chime, lights only on lock/ unlock, unlock all doors with one push of the unlock button...takes like 5 minutes to do.

 

Stand outside the truck.

Press and hold the lock button on your key.

Continue to hold lock for at least 4 seconds, but no longer than 10 seconds, then press and hold the panic button while still holding the lock button.

Release both buttons at the same time.






It took me about three tries to make it work.

Now, can someone tell me how to program out the interior lights coming on when I unlock?

I saw, I was telling you that the same method you used worked for me, just took several tries.

 

I just walked into my garage and without touching my unlocked truck, followed the proceedure you guys described.
It worked the first try.

Thanks guys. I have been meaning to read the manual to disable that darn horn too. Then I came across this thread.

 

I called my dealer today. He indicated that I should not be having this problem, and that the solution would probably be to re-flash the computer. After that, he is confident that I will be able to disable the horn during a remote lock.

 

might as well have them do it with the StarScan, make a list of all the changes you want and have them do them while it's there.
